EPRI is seeking a full time employee with a background in science, technology, engineering, and an analytical exposure to wind energy. This position will support EPRI’s Renewable Generation team in developing and analyzing wind farm performance and maintenance data from large-scale renewable energy facilities and evaluating state-of-the-art data analytics and reliability engineering. Additional activities may include research support, documentation and review, visualization of operational and global reliability data, presentations to members and the public, and techno-economic evaluations of new renewable energy technologies. The employee will have the opportunity for knowledge exchange with technical subject matter experts on the Renewable Power Generation R&D team as well as EPRI at large.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate data transfer from numerous sources by interfacing with members/clients at multiple utilities
  • Format data to be compatible with existing database constructs
  • Review data and perform quality control checks
  • Research new analytical methods for insight into wind turbine operational data and provide written and visual results to technical staff, members, and public audiences


Preferred Education & Skills:

  • Masters degree in engineering or equivalent experience related to wind energy
  • Training or experience in one or more wind energy governing standards (IEC, GL, IEEE, ASME, AWEA, etc.)
  • Experience with Python, data analysis, and visualization tools and programming languages
  • Preferred experience with SQL, OSIsoft, PI, Asset Framework or other operational database historian constructs and queries
  • Shows maturity of technical expertise, understands connections with broader business objectives, and assumes responsibility for specialized technical objectives
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Advanced technical degree with 3-5 years focus on wind energy
  • Experience with renewable energy, particularly large-scale wind plants and component-level technology
  • Experience with statistical data analysis and/or machine learning including large data sets from disparate sources
  • Familiarity with fundamental programming concepts, including some experience analyzing data with Matlab, Python, R, or another high-level language
  • Familiarity with database schema and data queries
  • Experience applying reliability engineering and data analytics techniques to plant performance and/or maintenance data
  • History of creatively solving unique technical problems. Detail oriented, self-starter, highly motivated, and strong work ethic to complete assigned tasks on time.
  • Ability to effectively arrange meetings, virtual events, and communicate results to different levels of technical staff and management internally and externally
  • Ability to work for any employer in the United States
