Farmingdale State College - Visiting Assistant Professor - Automotive Technology

Farmingdale State is a public college of applied science and technology with an enrollment of more than 9,200 undergraduate and graduate students and a rich history of over 80,000 graduates. As the largest of SUNY's colleges of technology, Farmingdale equips students with the resources and knowledge sought by today's emerging industries. A total of 31 undergraduate degree programs are offered within four schools: Arts & Sciences, Business, Engineering Technology, and Health Sciences. The Farmingdale State College Automotive Technology Department invites applications for a position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor. The department offers courses in technical automotive as well as automotive management. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. Primary responsibilities include teaching and development of courses and/or programs at the undergraduate level in the Automotive Technology Department. The individuals must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Commitment to the continuous improvement process and the outcome-based assessment of programs to maintain specialized accreditation is required. Teaching assignments will include both day and evening courses in the areas of automotive technology and management or related field. The Department offers ATMAE accredited programs including Associate in Applied Science and Bachelor of Science degree programs.

This is a one-year, non-tenure track position. The teaching work load of this position is 30 credit-hours per academic year. Successful candidates will demonstrate an interest and high level of competence in teaching.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Earned Masters Degree in Automotive Management, Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Earned Doctoral degree in Automotive Management, Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Leadership and Management related field. Three years of combined relevant industry experience and teaching at the College/University level. Proven academic industry relations; proven track of program or curriculum development and successful grant writing.
