The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Vermont invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Mechanical Engineering at the Assistant Professor and untenured Associate Professor levels for a Fall 2020 start date. Candidates are expected to hold a baccalaureate degree and a doctorate in mechanical engineering or a closely related field.

The Department is seeking outstanding individuals whose research focus lies at the forefront of automation and robotics, applied broadly but not limited to aerospace, agriculture, biotechnology, human-machine interaction, manufacturing, and water. The new faculty member is expected to maintain an active program of externally funded research and graduate student advising. Applicant must contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching within the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

In recent years, the Department has seen substantial growth in undergraduate and graduate student enrollment and research funding. The University values interdisciplinary research and innovative approaches to engineering education. Significant opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration exist within the Department and with other academic units across campus.
