We are looking to hire an experienced R&D Electronics Technologist to join our multidisciplinary team in designing, fabricating and testing Telemetry systems and supporting test equipment.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Build, modify, and repair a variety of electronic hardware, test equipment, and cables
+ Assist in conducting experiments, acquiring data and analyzing data
+ Track hardware and maintain calibration of test equipment
+ Support environmental (temperature, shock, vibration) testing
+ Design software for test equipment

Other responsibilities include:

+ Ability to create innovative solutions to difficult technical problems
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including documentation of test results and reports
+ Ability to work in team-oriented environment and work cooperatively with other internal organizations, as well as external production facilities

Required:

+ AS degree in Electronics Engineering Technology (EET) or similar technical field with at least two years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ IPC Solder Certification and significant soldering experience with fine pitch surface mount components
+ Experience in reading and understanding circuit diagram schematics
+ Experience in a lab environment working with normal light electronics lab equipment (scopes, DMMs, pulse generators, etc.) to troubleshoot circuit boards and equipment
+ Ability to obtain a U.S. DOE Q security clearance

Desired:

+ Bachelors degree in Electronics Engineering Technology (EET)
+ Active DOE Q or DoD Top Secret clearance
+ Experience performing assembly and inspection of Electronic Assemblies
+ Experience with NI LabView and/or similar lab software
+ Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout software (Mentor DxDesigner/Xpedition, Altium Designer, EAGLE)

Department Description:

Sandia Californias Telemetry Systems Engineering develops and maintains telemetry systems in support of the nuclear deterrence surveillance mission. Telemetry systems has responsibility for all aspects of telemetry development, including conceptual design, prototype development and testing, and transitioning production work to DOE production agencies. Telemetry systems integrate precision sensor electronics and signal conditioning with RF communication systems to support flight testing of Joint Test Assemblies. Work is performed by teams of electrical engineers and mechanical engineers, in partnership with quality engineering, reliability engineering, and project management. Current development mission assignments include the B61-12 TM project, the W87-1 EFTU TM project, and the W87-1 JTA10 TM project.

Security Clearance:
