We are seeking a Team Lead for Power Sources Production and Test (02544-1) to oversee a team of engineers and technologists that are responsible for developing, maintaining, and operating Power Sources Technology Groups Product Testers. These testers are used across the lifecycle of the products, so in addition to understanding the technical aspects of the testers themselves, the Team Lead will need to be connected to the full suite of ND work in PSTG to properly plan for and resource testing. Finally, the Team Lead is a primary representative on behalf of the Group for lab-wide initiatives around standardizing testing and data retention. This position also requires some travel, up to 25% when PSTG is in Production at vendor sites.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

Lead a dedicated team of engineers and technologists in supporting testing operations for PSTG

Work closely with PSTG PRTs to schedule and execute Power Source testing activities

Work with Sandia Production and other entities to secure and status activities against funding and schedule expectations

Negotiate with other Groups to secure supplemental resources towards supporting the testing mission.

Represent PSTGs testing capabilities and processes to the rest of the Center and Labs in support of tester standardization efforts

Required:

Bachelors Degree in STEM field plus five or more years of experience in engineering or scientific experience

Active / Current DOE Q-Level security clearance or DOD equivalent

2 years of experience with directing or executing testing, either at a component or system level

Desired:

Experience as an electrical, computer, or software engineer

Familiar with Sandia RPPs and the qualification of PT testers

Lean Certification

Product Realization Team lead or equivalent experience.

Experience with Project Management tools and reporting Earned Value metrics

Experience with calibration of mechanical and electrical hardware

Department Description:

Power Sources Production and Test (Org. 2544-1) oversees the development, qualification, operation, and maintenance of custom-built and commercial off-the-shelf product testers for thermal and lithium batteries built in the Power Sources Technology Group (PSTG) and at external vendors. Org. 2544-1 performs acceptance testing on mark quality products built by the PSTG and provides test support services to all battery development, production, surveillance, and system-level programs.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
