We are seeking a self-motivated and creative Engineering Program and Project Lead who is passionate about advancing wind energy research to lead field operations at the Scaled Wind Farm Technology (SWiFT) site in Lubbock, Texas. This world-class wind energy technology R&D facility is an innovation hub funded by the DOE Wind Energy Technologies Office that seeks to improve wind turbine/farm performance using scaled research-grade wind turbines in partnership with many institutions, including Texas Tech University, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and GroupNIRE. You will be based in Lubbock, Texas and be a valuable member of the Wind Energy Research Department in Albuquerque, NM.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Lead a multi-disciplinary team, consisting of approximately one onsite Sandia staff and two to three contractors to support O&M activities at the site for three wind turbines and two metrological towers, along with supporting multiple principal investigators with their field experiments that range from validating new rotor designs, atmospheric inflow measurements, and microgrid integration studies, for example.
+ Assist with site operations tasks and tests.
+ Develop and demonstrate safe work practices in accordance with DOE and Sandia policies and regulatory requirements.
+ Management of a high-bay and office space where the on-site team and visiting researchers prepare for experiments.
+ Work with Sandia Principal Investigators and ES&H SME's for continual improvement to site operations.

Required:

+ Bachelors degree in a technical field and 5 years of related site management and operations leadership experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ Project management experience
+ Previous work that demonstrates the ability to work with and lead teams conducting technical work with little direct supervision
+ Demonstrated strong communication and leadership skills as evidenced through previous project work, publications, presentations, etc.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance

Desired:

+ Ability to travel to Albuquerque, NM for training, strategy planning and other necessary requirements as defined by the department manager and SWiFT Program Lead
+ Demonstrated background working with safety and health policies and procedures, including OSHA requirements
+ Ability to read and understand written or verbal instructions, drawings, layouts, and other related specifications for electrical and mechanical equipment
+ Ability to use basic hand tools to perform mechanical tasks and basic electrical test and diagnostic equipment
+ Basic experience administering Microsoft Windows-based PCs and servers, knowledge of FTP and Windows file sharing, and experience solving software and IT-related issues
+ Provide leadership and tactical planning for execution of projects and apply engineering or other technical knowledge to accomplish project objectives
+ Identify procurement and contracting needs, and marshal resources to complete projects within the scope, schedules, and budgets defined in project work packages
+ Manage changes in project scope using change management plans, identifying potential issues, and devise contingency plans, as necessary

Security Clearance:
