The Senior Manager is responsible for delivering on the immediate needs of the mission, advancing capabilities to address future challenges, and stewarding a broad range of Engineering Sciences capabilities on behalf of the Laboratory\.

The Senior Manager leads the development and delivery of state of the art computational mechanics simulation to support national security missions\. The Group sustains a high volume of fast\-paced, high\-consequence applications work in sustainment and modernization activities across Sandias mission areas\. Additional responsibilities include ensuring the enduring impact of this dynamic team by developing and maintaining strong customer and sponsor relationships\. The Senior Manager supports the day to day needs of the modernization activities and the enduring stockpile as a top priority, requiring close partnership with component and system customers at Sandia, as well as testing and analysis organizations at Sandia and KCNSC\. Implementing Group management assurance processes to deliver high quality products and services consistent with achievable simulation credibility is a high priority\.

The Senior Manager also plays an influential role as a partner in core capability program leadership, including Advanced Scientific Computing and ESAR/Delivery Environments, to steward core capabilities in material mechanics, solid mechanics, structural dynamics, shock physics, and environments specification\. This manager also participates in corporate initiatives to revolutionize the use of computational simulation in future product streams and partners across the breadth of Sandia as well as externally\. Opportunities exist to drive Model Based Engineering in support of rapid analysis\-design\-qualification processes and to enable high confidence serialized digital twins of as\-built, as\-deployed components and systems\.

In addition to group leadership responsibilities, the Senior Manager is part of the 1500 leadership team, stewarding a broad range of Engineering Sciences capabilities on behalf of the Laboratories\. Close partnership on high performance code development and experimental discovery and validation is essential to ensuring Group success\.

Required:

+ Advanced degree in a relevant Science or Engineering discipline\.
+ Ten or more years of relevant experience, including five or more years of managerial experience
+ Experience and/or familiarity in one of the following technical areas: solid mechanics, structural dynamics, material mechanics, shock physics, or environments engineering\.
+ Active DOE Q Clearance

+ Demonstrated effective leadership of complex projects involving diverse technical disciplines
+ Proven experience developing and leading a team to high performance, including the ability to partner effectively with a peer leader
+ Experience conducting or managing activity level work
+ Ability to lead through others by developing a common vision and supporting program leaders to successfully accomplish challenging objectives
+ Ability to consistently achieve complex program deliverables on time and within budget
+ Experience working with the US nuclear weapons stockpile, particularly in the areas of safety and security
+ Experience in program management and especially within ND programs
+ Ability to react positively and creatively to a changing environment are needed
+ Evidence of established networks within Sandia
+ Demonstrated adherence to Sandias Corporate Values and a dedication to building diverse and inclusive environments

Department Description:

The Computational Structural Mechanics Group is responsible for advancing and applying cutting edge computational techniques to simulate the response of complex national security structures subjected to extreme environments\. The Groups impacts are evident across the breadth of Sandias mission space, spanning material, component, and system scale in regimes from quasi\-static to high speed impact loading conditions\. The Group plays a pivotal role in delivering design, development, and qualification support for ND systems and components in partnership with 1500 Code development and Environments Test Facilities\.
