If so, you could be the Physical Security Systems Specialist we are seeking to join Sandia's high functioning team within the Technical Security Systems (TSS) department.

The department consists of a Security Operations Center (SOC) and is the central communications hub of the security systems. The department also consists of field operations which include design, installation, maintenance and testing on-site security hardware. TSS also has several high-profile technical projects that this position will lead.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Work very closely with the other members of the department by joining a high functioning team within the TSS department to ensure reliable operations are sustained.
+ Lead and manage the day-to-day operations (e.g., new installations, modifications, testing, and sustainment of the security system) for security projects.
+ Be a critical member to the team in the design, installation, maintenance and testing of the new Alarm/Access Control system.
+ Have a strong organizational, project management experience, business insight, proven record of project success, high level of attention to detail, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, to include excellent written and verbal communication skills to support preparing detailed written report.
+ Be a self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with others (e.g., peers, management, customers, and stakeholders)
+ Cultivate new and/or preserve and improve existing relationships with internal & external customers and stakeholders.
+ Be capable of working in a multi-tasked and dynamic work environment.


+ Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline plus five (5) years experience in a relevant discipline or equivalent combination of relevant education and relevant experience.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.


+ Experience and knowledgeable with DOE/NNSA Security directives.
+ Experience with physical security systems and system administration to design, install, maintain, and test.
+ Ability to partner with customers and technically direct the efforts of a cross-disciplinary team on large security implementation projects.
+ Self-motivated and work independently on assignments, in a team environment with diverse group dynamics, which support organizational and Sandia projects, programs, and business operations.
+ Led large scale projects and have and/or earned a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
+ Knowledge in various UL standards in construction and alarm systems
+ Experience and/or knowledge of the following:

- Diamond II and OnGuard Security platforms
- Video surveillance systems to include software and hardware
- Basic electronics and electronic circuits
- Computer networks and associated equipment
- Cost estimating tools
+ Experience or certified in National Electrical Code (NEC).
+ Maintenance and/or installation experience on federal installations.
+ Experience with problem solving, attention to details, and critical thinking with minimal guidance can be demonstrated.
+ Effective verbal & written communication and presentation skills with results to successfully interact with internal and external customers and suppliers at all levels within an organization.
+ Proficient with Microsoft Office Products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.

Department Description:

The Technical Security Systems (TSS) department at Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) provides a secure, robust, and sustainable electronic security system in support of Sandia's critical missions. We are responsible for sustaining this security system at an acceptable level that meets Department of Energy (DOE) requirements. This is achieved by implementing high level standards and configuration control to the security systems followed by structured, preventive, and corrective maintenance processes. Our team interfaces and integrates with other departments within the Safeguards and Security Center which include Physical Security, Personnel Security, and the Protective Force. In addition to supporting the electronic security systems at SNL-NM, TSS provides program and technical support to several remote sites within the US.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
