Are you a highly motivated, team-oriented individual with a strong attention to detail and a passion for national security? If so, you could be the Security Incident Investigator we are seeking. Our Incident Investigators conduct inquiries to determine facts and circumstances related to incidents of potential security concern.

On any given day you may be called upon to:

+ Respond to events immediately and conduct inquiries into all reports of potential security incidents, as defined by DOE directives.
+ Manage the reporting of security incidents through comprehensive written reports, perform activities that mitigate and contain situations, conduct interviews and collect relevant information including computer forensic evidence.
+ Maintain current knowledge of multiple security disciplines.
+ Work with all levels of management and members of the workforce on inquiries, causal analysis, resolution of issues, and awareness activities.
+ Interpret requirements and provide expertise and guidance to SNLs executive management, program management, and to multiple government entities.
+ May occasionally involve responding to calls outside of business hours.


+ Bachelors degree plus 5 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE-Q level security clearance.


+ An active DOE Q-clearance or Top Secret security clearance.
+ Experience with a major law enforcement, intelligence, public, or private-sector security organization.
+ Strong interview, investigation, and inquiry skills to establish and identify noncompliance with security requirements.
+ Experience handling and protecting classified and/or sensitive information (e.g. financial, medical, proprietary, law enforcement, human resources, etc.) and the ability to exercise discretion, and maintain confidentiality of information.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, competing priorities by assessing significance and prioritizing events based on risk.
+ Proven ability to communicate complex issues clearly, concisely and accurately in both verbal & written formats.
+ Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to exercise judgment, critical thinking, and initiative to achieve results with minimal direction and supervision.
+ Proven ability to build relationships based on trust in order to work effectively as a team member and with a diverse customer base.

The Security Programs and Planning organization is a diverse team of security professionals who collaborate to implement effective and efficient security services and solutions to ensure the protection of national security assets. Our organization has responsibility for Classification, Classified Matter Protection and Control, Personnel Security, Badging, Security Incident Management, and Deployed Security support.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
