The scrimmage team has need a for S&E Project Manager that uses project management skills to plan, distribute, track, and execute a large number of technical projects for the department. The ideal candidate will have a technical background and degree along with experience in weapon systems design, analysis, and/or simulation. The job will involve interaction with other technical leads and team members to determine the correct technical approach taken for a technical project, document it in a technical plan, communicate action items, and follow-up with team members to ensure progress and timely delivery.

On any given day, you may:

+ Lead the programmatic aspects of the program as well as be required to have substantial technical understanding of the engineering products to be delivered.
+ Be responsible for processes and/or activities involving costs, schedules, and assured technical performance. Lead project engineering teams while they support functions such as authoring and implementing project plans, estimating and managing costs, generating and overseeing integrated schedules.
+ Manage technical and programmatic requirements, manage technical and non-technical risks and opportunities, assure quality products, and manage information processes.
+ Serves as a principal technical project interface with internal Sandia organizations, as well as external customers and suppliers.
+ Work in a peer-level relationship with the project technical leads to oversee project management activities including project plan development and execution, project monitoring and control, and integrated change control for large, complex, and high-rigor projects.
+ Use a strong technical understanding of the risks and opportunities to ensure that all are properly prioritized and addressed.

Required:

+ Bachelor degree in relevant technical (STEM) discipline, or equivalent engineering or scientific experience and/or achievements that demonstrate the knowledge, skills and ability to perform independent research and development.
+ Five or more years of technical Project Management experience.
+ Ability to make decisions requiring scientific or engineering judgment across more than one discipline.
+ Knowledge of and experience with standard project management practices including, scope management, project scheduling, cost estimation and management, quality assurance, communications planning and management, risk and opportunity management, and procurement management
+ Ability to obtain a DOE Q security clearance.
+ Demonstrated teaming skills, including the ability to work effectively with other organizations, project sponsors and customers, and suppliers
+ Demonstrated organizational skills.

+ Bachelors and Masters Degrees in a STEM discipline
+ Demonstrated experience in management of technical projects
+ Experience with Weapon System Design
+ Experience with Software Development
+ Experience with systems Modeling and Simulation
+ Familiarity with Sandia Project Management Best Practices

Department Description:

The Scrimmage Department, 5491, develops an understanding of potential future warfighter technology needs through simulation and analysis of mission and engagement vignettes. This allows for development of a deep understanding of potential gaps in warfighter capabilities and helps to drive proposals, technology roadmaps, as well as requirements for future systems. The capabilities draw upon both the offensive and defensive technology expertise at the laboratory. The department both utilizes existing tools and develops new tools for creating a robust scrimmaging capability. The department seeks broad integration with warfighters and technology providers to the government.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level security clearance.
