This is the Science & Engineering Project Manager \(S&E PM\) role for the W80\-4 qualification team\. The S&E PM will partner closely with the Test & Evaluation Control Account Manager \(CAM\) as well as the rest of the qualification team\. Scope includes test asset documentation management; coordination of logistics between inventory management, qualification team, and test facilities; and management of interlaboratory documentation and controls for joint tests\. The S&E PM manages the control account risk register and updates to requirements, including requirements verification\. The role also includes stakeholder engagement with other sites, component teams, and test facilities\. The S&E PM is responsible for ensuring successful execution of milestones & deliverables\.

Required:

+ Requires a bachelors and masters degree in relevant STEM discipline plus two or more years Science & Engineering Project Management experience; or doctorate in relevant STEM discipline\.
+ Must achieve PMP or equivalent certification within one year of hire
+ Ability to make decisions requiring scientific or engineering judgment across more than one discipline\.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills\.
+ Ability to effectively communicate across project controls and business disciplines
+ Ability to effectively communicate across science and engineering disciplines\.
+ Ability to interface with management at all levels\.
+ Knowledge of and experience with standard project management practices for technical work including project plan development and control, scope management, project scheduling, cost estimation and management, quality assurance, project staffing, communications planning and management, risk and opportunity management, and procurement management\.
+ Proficiency in tools and applications commonly employed in project management activities\.

Desired:

+ Active Q or Top Secret clearance\.
+ Experience with Earned Value Management \(EVM\)\.
+ Experience with EV tools, such as Cobra, Acumen, Primavera, and wInsight
+ Experience working nuclear weapon programs/projects at the system and component levels\.
+ Experience working with the Department of Energy, the National Nuclear Security Administration, or the Department of Defense\.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage projects involving substantial resources \($1M/year or greater\)\.
+ Project management education and certification\(s\)\.

Department Description:

The W80\-4 Project Management department is responsible for providing Science & Engineering \(S&E\) Project Management support to the W80\-4 Life Extension Program \(LEP\) system team at the Sandia National Laboratories\. The department is also an integral part of the Division 8000 Nuclear Weapons \(NW\) Project Management Office \(PMO\)\. The NW Programs are responsible for assuring the safety, reliability and security of U\.S\. nuclear weapons, enabling the defense of our nation through our nuclear strategic deterrent\. The Nuclear Weapons Programs three principal thrusts are: \(1\) overseeing the enduring nuclear weapons stockpile; \(2\) innovative analyses and evolution of warhead systems, subsystems, and components; their production and deployment; along with the development of supporting technologies; \(3\) and the safe, effective, and environmentally responsible dismantlement and disposal of weapons retired from the stockpile\. Informed with technical expertise in engineering disciplines, the department provides and employs program/project management \(PM\) resources to plan, execute, manage, and report scope, cost, schedule, performance, requirements, risk and opportunities management, aspects of quality assurance, and information management functions associated with W80\-4 LEP\. It provides individuals with engineering expertise and knowledge of PM methodologies and tools to partner with technical line organizations to perform, oversee, and lead the PM aspects of endeavors that successfully develop and deliver Science, Technology, & Engineering \(ST&E\) products\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.
