The Advanced Solutions Engineering group (9360) is looking for an inspirational individual to lead and manage Department 9365, Mission Algorithms Research and Solutions. The department is comprised of computing algorithm researchers who develop, optimize, and deliver cutting-edge solutions which solve challenging national security problems. Core capabilities of the department include: algorithm and model development, optimization, machine learning, and data analytics.

The Mission Algorithms manager currently leads the RISC (Reduce Incidents of Security Concern) capability development, in collaboration with multiple centers across the Labs. The ACTICI (Advanced Computer Tools to Identify Classified Information) multi-lab R&D program is also led out of the department.

## On any given day you will perform the following:

+ Provide leadership and technical mentorship to continue to grow the organizations computing algorithms capabilities and programs to serve the Labs needs.
+ Establish a vision and strategy for the organization
+ Engage in and strengthen mission partnerships across the Labs
+ Focus on capability development, partnership development, staff development, and project/program management.


+ Advanced degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or related technical field
+ Eight or more years proven experience
+ Technical R&D experience
+ A current US DOE Q Clearance


+ Two or more years of management or leadership experience
+ Demonstrated ability to lead robust individuals and teams, including research and development.
+ Proven track record to partner and work well with others, including strong R&D relationships throughout
+ Sandia.
+ Experience with a subset of the following: algorithm development, data mining, machine learning, parallel computer architectures, high performance computing, predictive analytics, optimization, software engineering.
+ Business development experience with proven results in building positive relationships, internal and external to Sandia.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Ability to excel in a team management environment.
+ Experience with proposing and executing LDRDs.
+ Ability to acquire and maintain an SCI clearance.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
