We are seeking a R&D S&E, Systems Engineer scientist to act as the lead for Nuclear Deterrent \(ND\) education\. As the lead you will be responsible for developing curriculums for various ND efforts such as Weapon Intern Program, Essential Topics for Nuclear Weapons Managers, NEA, mCAD and Knowledge Development Program roles\. As the lead you will be expected to work with SMEs to ensure course content is appropriate and the overall ND education program is integrated and avoids duplication among the various ND training efforts and courses\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Be responsible for evaluating and implementing new teaching methods including augmented reality and virtual reality to enhance the delivery of ND education\.
+ Work closely with the talent development organization to ensure curriculum designers are engaged and working across the ND program\.
+ Teach a selected group of classes as appropriate for your technical background and interest\.


+ Masters or PhD in engineering or science
+ Two years of relevant experience
+ Active US DOE Q security clearance


+ Interest in technical education and development of ND training\.
+ Able to work with multi\-disciplinary teams\.
+ Familiar with the ND mission and ND training programs\.
+ Effective communication and teaming skills\.
+ Knowledge of the ND mission\.
+ Familiar with NEA and Sandia Design environments\.
+ Experience with ND training such as WIP, ETNWM, KDP\.
+ Experience teaching technical material\.
+ Experience with e\-learning and distance education\.
+ Experience with virtual reality and/or augmented reality\.

Department Description:

The Weapons Engineering Professional Development \(WEPD\) department 2236 is responsible for leading the nuclear deterrence \(ND\) professional education efforts\. This includes the Weapon Intern Program \(WIP\), Essential Topics for Nuclear Weapons Managers \(ETNWM\), Knowledge Development Program \(KDP\), Knowledge Preservation \(KP\), WRXXX Classes, Mechanical Cad curriculum \(MCad\), and NEA education\. In addition to the ND education mission, the WEPD department manages the legacy hardware laboratory in building 867 and is the lead for the Weapon Dismantlement and Disposition effort to ensure proper disposition of nuclear weapons legacy hardware\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance to start\.

Position requires an active Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance or active clearance with another US government agency, e\.g\., DOD, to be considered for this position\.
