Join a dynamic team that solves challenging issues for our nation's security! We are seeking an R&D System Engineer to join the B61-12 Air Force Integration Team to serve as the point of contact for a B61-12 aircraft platform and to manage hardware configuration and pedigree required for compatibility certification. In this role, you will be responsible for the execution of many phases of integration efforts that include flight testing, ground testing, hardware & assembly, and interface with Aircraft Compatibility. Your efforts will be focused on aligning hardware to deliver on the compatibility certification needed for each platform. Your technical and programmatic leadership skills will be drawn upon to execute the tasks with close partnering with AFNWC, NNSA, and SNL Aircraft Compatibility. You will be part of a tightly integrated team consisting of engineers working across SNL including nuclear weapon component design, modeling & simulation, flight testing, ground testing, and environmental testing.

On a given day, you may be called to:

+ Deliver on integration deliverable for all required aircraft platforms.
+ Work with contacts from US Air Force, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Los Alamos National Laboratories (LANL), and Sandia National Laboratories (SNL).
+ Resolve technical and programmatic challenges in a collaborative manner with internal and external agencies.
+ Support testing and evaluation of hardware in support of all B61-12 aircraft platforms.
+ Assess, plan, and report progress relative to the program plan.


+ Bachelors degree in a STEM discipline plus (2) or more years of experience OR; Bachelor's and Master's degree in STEM discipline.
+ Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment and work cooperatively with other internal organizations, as well as external customers.
+ Current & active DOE Q-level security clearance.


+ Masters degree in a STEM discipline.
+ Nuclear Weapons (NW) project leadership experience.
+ Experience working on a PRT or within NW product realization framework.
+ Excellent communication skills, including the ability to develop and present briefings that are clear and compelling, strong writing skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
+ Prior experience contributing within team environments and in conjunction with diverse collaborators.
+ Demonstrated broad multi-disciplinary technical knowledge of NW systems.
+ Experience in technology maturation, engineering design, product qualification, production, and related modeling/simulation.

Department Description:

The B61-12 SNL Air Force Integration department is responsible for leading and coordinating the integration with objective and threshold aircraft platforms. Engineers have to develop a thorough knowledge of the B61-12 and also the aircraft platforms to ensure the overarching integration is achieved to ensure a safe, secure, and effective national deterrent.
