**Passionate about your work and dream of utilizing state-of-the-art facilities to explore solutions? Join a dynamic team and solve significant issues and challenges for our nation's security!**

We are seeking an experienced engineer to join a collaborative team engaging in the portfolio of Mission Engineering support for our sponsors. Mission Engineering ensures that operational and system architectures, and systems to support them, properly support the missions for which they were designed. This is accomplished through deliberate planning, analysis, organization, and integration of current and emerging capabilities. The successful candidate will support our teams efforts to plan and execute major test activities, perform analysis of component and integrated system data for system requirements verification and validation, and engage with external Government and Mission partners. The selected applicant will join a team that conducts and supports analysis of remote sensing systems data, algorithm development, electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensor characterization and modeling & simulation.

On any given day, you may be asked to conduct:

+ Radiometric sensor test planning and support
+ Mission data analysis
+ Development of prototype data analytics
+ Remote sensing modeling, characterizing and optimizing sensing instrument performance, and technical analysis and design of next generation systems and data architectures to meet overall system mission performance and operational goals and requirements

The selected candidate will have opportunities to collaborate with Mission partners and operations personnel to address community needs and participate in R&D with cutting edge advanced systems. Additional collaboration opportunities with engineers and domain specialists from the program Flight and Ground organizations to maintain complex systems and develop new capabilities to address critical needs of the Nation also exist within the Mission Engineering and Analysis department, as do cross-organizational efforts such as support to the development of next generation remote sensing system concepts and designs. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, comfortable with dynamic, sometimes vague objectives, multidisciplinary teams, and a constant learning environment. They will work with many elements of the Laboratory and with external aerospace organizations, be expected to deliver quality technical analyses and products, present them to colleagues and customers, and work well in a team environment.

+ Proficiency with MATLAB or similar language for development of analysis tools
+ Can obtain a SCI clearance

+ Familiarity with EO/IR remote sensing phenomenology
+ Experience with systems engineering and requirements verification
+ Experience with image and/or signal processing and analysis
+ Proficient in radiometry and electro-optics subject areas
+ Proficient in Python, C++, R, SQL or Java for algorithm development and support of analysis software
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the development and delivery of presentations, proposals and reports
+ Demonstrated ability to succeed in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team
+ Familiarity with multi-physics analysis/simulation of sensing instrument performance
+ Creative technical and analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
+ Strong social skills, including effective leadership, teamwork and collaboration
