Are you passionate about your work and want to utilize state-of-the-art facilities to explore solutions? Do you want to join and dynamic team that solves challenging issues for the nation's security? If so, you could be the highly motivated Electrical Engineer with experience in the Nuclear Deterrence program, and major component design that we seek. Our department has a portfolio that covers diverse opportunities across Sandia’s Nuclear Deterrence mission and various Strategic Partnership Programs supporting work across the U.S. government. You will act in a liaison role between major component designers and the COTS component engineers, negotiating the optimal solution. We provide opportunities for leadership, travel, training, mentorship and collaboration across the laboratory.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Coordinate with major component designers, COTS component engineers, production agencies, and other key partners to support design, testing, development, qualification, and production activities.
+ Understand the trade space of hi-reliability commercial electronics in major component designs, provide recommendations
+ Analyze performance against requirements, understand options, offer solutions.
+ Support major component program reviews, provide technical content

Required:

+ Bachelor's degree in electrical or electronics engineering or equivalent 8 years of experience and/or achievements in the following;

- Experience with designing and assembling printed wiring boards for Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) devices.
- Experience with schematic capture and circuit board layout software for electronic board design.
- Experience in electrical testing of COTS devices using commercially available testers.
- Experience in non-destructive analyses such as acoustic microscope and X-ray technique.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.

Desired:

+ Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant STEM
+ Experience in analog design/COTS design
+ Nuclear weapons experience
+ Prior project management or leadership experience
+ Demonstrated ability to negotiate competing requirements to give the best system-level outcome
+ Strong organizational skills
+ Ability to multitask with competing priorities
+ Current DOE Q Security Clearance

Department Description:

Department (7642) is responsible for coordinating and integrating high-reliability commercial electronics into Major Component designs. We liaison between the MC designers and the COTS Component Engineers, provide support to programs throughout the product life cycle, and provide IT solutions to enable project management support.

Security Clearance:
