We are seeking an R&D Electrical Design Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team that is designing, developing and sustaining advanced components, subsystems, and systems for national defense programs. General responsibilities for electrical engineers range from conceptual design, detailed design (a combination of analog, digital, embedded software, FPGA firmware, schematic capture, printed circuit board layout), analysis, overseeing fabrication of hardware, defining and executing qualification/testing plans, system integration, field support, as well as project management. Successful candidates will work in a team environment with opportunities to acquire increasing levels of responsibility.

We are seeking an Electrical/Electronics Engineer with circuit design experience to join our close-knit team to develop electronics systems.

Required:

+ Masters Degree in either Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or Computer Engineering with 3-5 years experience or Doctorate (PhD) Degree in either Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or Computer Engineering with a minimum 3 years experience
+ Experience developing hardware for microprocessors, FPGAs, CPLD, DSP, and high-performance computing components.
+ Able to develop software and firmware for embedded microcontrollers, FPGAs, ASICS, circuit boards in a variety of design environments (Model-Based Design, VHDL, Verilog, schematic, physical layout etc.).
+ Familiarity with hardware and/or software requirements generation for verification, validation and qualification.
+ Experience in printed circuit board-level and/or component level circuit design, microprocessor system design, communication system design, signal processing and data analysis.

Some travel may be required.

Desired:

Ideally, your background will also include some of the following:

+ Experience in state-machine and data throughput designs, synchronous/asynchronous circuit analysis, board-level analysis, power analysis.
+ Ability to perform hands-on testing and de-bugging of circuitry, with clear mastery of tools such as oscilloscopes, logic/network/spectrum analyzers, function/pulse generators
+ Self-motivation and ability to work well as a part of a multidisciplinary project team to achieve project goals
+ Proven teaming skills and ability to work in a group setting for a common purpose.
+ Ability to provide oversight to and/or generation of electrical drawings and design definition documents
+ Ability to give technical presentations to peers/managers/customers.
+ Familiarity with Embedded Software Development such as bare metal and real time operating systems
+ Familiarity with Inertial Systems and Avionics a plus
+ Experience working with Matlab for data analysis
+ Familiarity with LabVIEW

Department Description:

The Inertial Systems and Avionics (5325) develops and delivers innovative computing solutions for Navigation Systems, Specialized Radars & Communications systems along with traditional weapon applications that require high reliability and high performance. In the Navigation mission and Radar areas, the department specializes in reconfigurable digital signal processing utilizing leading edge FPGA technology, general purpose microprocessors, high density memories, high speed serial communication devices along with custom ASIC devices all specifically designed to support the space environment. We also work with various Navigation technologies such as Inertial Measurement Units, Gyroscopes, and Accelerometers.

In the weapons area, the department is responsible for the design and development of ruggedized flight computers used for navigation. Most product development includes architecture, design and thorough testing of subsystem level components along with supporting higher level system integration.
