The Systems Research Department is seeking a Computer Engineer to develop embedded hardware and software for a unique national security mission.The department tackles the full system lifecycle of a technical project from concept, design, fabrication, development testing, performance verification and support of delivered products.

Required:

+ Masters degree in CE/EE; or a Bachelor's in relevant discipline plus five years of relevant experience
+ Experience programming in C / C++ for embedded systems
+ Experience with standard EE/CE lab equipment, Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, and Protocol Analyzers
+ Active DOE Q-level security clearance
+ Ability to obtain and maintain and SCI-level security clearance which may require a polygraph.

Desired:

Ideally, your background would also include:

+ Experience designing very low power embedded systems
+ Experience with microcontrollers (PIC, ARM, etc.)
+ Five plus years of experience with development and design with FPGA (preferably Verilog)
+ Experience with embedded linux
+ Experience with vulnerability assessments and reverse engineering
+ Excellent communication skills working in a highly collaborative and team-focused environment
+ Strong ability to successfully adapt to change

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
