**Are you passionate about your work and dream of utilizing state-of-the-art facilities to explore solutions? Do you want to join a dynamic team that solves challenging issues for nation's security?**

We are seeking an exceptional experimental physicist to support world leading research in semiconductor-based devices for quantum information science applications. Areas of specific interest include low-noise high-bandwidth electrical characterization, coherent control of single-atoms or quantum-dots, quantum information, cryogenics (T< 1 K), electron-spin or nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), cryogenic circuitry (e.g., amplification and sensors), advanced instrumentation control, and silicon nanofabrication. Opportunities exist for collaborating with internal and external scientists on a broad range of quantum information topics.

Our quantum information sciences program has a teaming, highly collaborative environment. On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Characterize and operate semiconductor quantum dot devices at dilution refrigerator temperatures.
+ Work in a team environment to both design new device structures as well as solve problems in existing devices.
+ Work with Sandia staff and managers to write internal and external proposals in new areas of quantum information science.
+ Conduct original research in quantum information science while also supporting internal Sandia research teams.
+ Work in a collaborative team environment on large-scale projects as part of a fast-paced technically challenging research organization.

Required:

+ PhD Or Master's Degree in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related STEM discipline.
+ Bachelors in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related STEM discipline.
+ Experience in a research area related to quantum information science, particularly quantum computing.
+ A history of publication of results in peer-reviewed journals and external presentations at appropriate scientific conferences.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.

Desired:

Ideally, we would like to see your background include some of the following:

+ Preferably a PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related STEM discipline.
+ Experience with cryogenic systems including dilution refrigerators.
+ Experience designing and fabricating nanoscale quantum devices.
+ Research experience on solid state qubit systems (e.g., Si or SiGe-based quantum dots, donors).
+ Experience programming complex instrumentation and measurement protocols.
+ Record of publication in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
+ Willingness to be flexible in job assignments.
+ Willingness to develop expertise in different areas of device modeling.
+ Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to work creatively on a complex research problem.
+ Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly to other team members.
+ Active DOE Q security clearance or DoD TS clearance.

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.
