We are seeking an Microelectronics/Semiconductor Technologist to support semiconductor device testing and data acquisition. You will assume a key role within our high performing optoelectronics team, working closely with compound semiconductor device scientists and engineers on lasers, integrated photonics, infrared devices, and novel sensors.

On any given day, you will be asked to:

+ Develop, build, modify, repair, and maintain a wide variety of electrical, electronic, and optical test hardware
+ Support data acquisition and analysis as part of a product realization team
+ Read and understand schematics, wiring diagrams, drawings, and related specifications
+ Coordinate lab usage, instrumentation calibration, and ES&H responsibilities

Required:

+ Associates degree in a science or Engineering field or 3 years of relevant experience.
+ Experience testing semiconductor devices.
+ Familiarity with laboratory test equipment and measurement techniques.
+ You can obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance.

Desired:

Ideally, we would like to see your background include some of the following:

+ 5 or more years of experience performing electrical tests of semiconductor devices.
+ Familiarity with optical test equipment and measurement techniques.
+ Familiarity with circuit board layout and assembly.
+ Experience using National Instruments hardware and software in a test environment.
+ Active security clearance.

Department Description:

The III-V Optoelectronics Department develops compound semiconductor devices, photonics, and microsystems for national security applications including high-performance computing, communications, renewable energy, sensing and imaging. As part of Sandias Microsystems Science, Technology and Components Center, we research, design, fabricate, prototype, test and deliver novel lasers, photonic integrated circuits, photonic microsystems, and sensors. We focus on R&D of high performance technology platforms and customized microsystems.

We leverage state-of-the-art materials and fabrication capabilities within the Microsystems Engineering Sciences and Applications (MESA) cleanroom complex to serve a broad mix of internal and external customers. Core capabilities include:

Optical, optoelectronic and electronic modeling and simulation

Epitaxial design, materials growth (MOCVD/MBE) and materials characterization

Design, microfabrication and testing of III-V photonic devices, RF devices and photonic integrated circuits

Heterogeneous microsystem integration and prototyping

High-speed and harsh-environment optoelectronics, and device reliability
