Sandia National Laboratories department, 05229, that develops intricate fabrication technology, is seeking an exceptional individual to assist the department's semiconductor/microelectronics fabrication needs\. **This is the beginning of your grand challenge on digital electronics at the atomic limit\!**

You will work with colleagues in a team environment to deliver high impact S&T work\. You will be working in a light lab environment assembling, troubleshooting, and testing high vacuum and ultra\-high vacuum equipment toolsets\. In addition, you will also be learning how to make devices atom\-by\-atom\. This a fast paced and team oriented environment\. Excellent problem solving, teaming, documentation, and communication skills are necessary to be successful in this department\.

On any given day you may be called upon to:

+ Assemble and troubleshoot high vacuum equipment
+ Perform high vacuum science experiments in a team environment and as an individual
+ Execute lithography and fabrication of nanoscale electronic devices using advanced microscopic techniques, resists, and chemistries
+ Develop experimental processes, utilize novel analytical techniques, establishes new characterization methods, optimize existing laboratory and characterization techniques, and perform experiments\.
+ Performs data analysis and interpretation, statistical error analysis, materials characterization, and information extraction, and formally documents result for the customer\.
+ Support documentation and publication efforts, including the preparation of information for scientific and engineering publications\.
+ Experience working and performing in a safe and compliant manner\.
+ Ability to seek out subject matter expert's advice as needed, and maintain the necessary documentation\.

Required:

+ Bachelor's degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or related STEM field; or high school degree and 10 years experience\.
+ Experience in pneumatic pumping of fluids and high vacuum science applications\.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q level security clearance\.

Desired:

+ High vacuum science assembly, testing, and/or data collection experience\.
+ Electron beam or scanned probe based microscopy experience\.
+ Testing and maintaining lab equipment and tools\.
+ Strong organizational skills for ordering and maintaining the stock of supplies and chemicals\.
+ Willingness to perform research and communicate in a team environment; and perform on team/individual critical\-path elements to meet R&D needs and goals\.
+ Ability to develop and maintain required technical work documents\.

Department Description:

The Fab Tech Development Department leverages a diverse capability set to provide science and technology products to enhance Sandia's national security missions\. The department includes a broad set of expertise including atomic physics, quantum information S&T, micro\-optics, and electrochemistry\. We provide solutions including atomic physics based sensors; microfabrication at the atomic scale, atomic level experimental setups, atom and ion trapping microelectronic devices, and electrochemical materials expertise\. In addition to work for internal Sandia organizations, we have an established record of successful engagement, collaboration, and delivery to both internal and external customers\. The department leverages strong relationships with the Microsystems Engineering Sciences and Applications \(MESA\) facility, the Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies \(CINT\), and other internal and external organizations to develop advanced solid\-state electronic device technology\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.
