If you are up for this challenge, we are seeking an Electronics Engineer in the Information Operations Program of the Threat Intelligence Center\. As part of this program, you will assist in assessing, designing, and influencing national security\-related information systems and technologies by:

+ Developing and applying tools to analyze complex information systems and technologies for vulnerabilities
+ Developing and transferring solutions to help protect our nations most critical systems
+ Contributing to the assessment of vulnerabilities and reduction of threats to our nation by applying science, engineering, and analytical expertise to technical problems

You will bring a strong, applied background to the table in beam physics, semiconductor device physics, materials science, and/or electrical engineering\. You will be responsible for supporting research and development activities related to ion and electron beam capabilities for materials characterization, IC imaging, and circuit edit needs for failure analysis\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Lead research activities in novel ion and electron beam imaging and circuit edit techniques for state\-of\-the\-art semiconductor devices
+ Lead testing and device characterization
+ Communicate results in the form of reports to customers, conference presentations, and/or peer\-reviewed journal articles

This position will demand that you have meticulous attention to detail and a proven ability to function on a multidisciplinary team\. You will work closely with team members in all activities in a highly collaborative work environment\. This position may require you to periodically travel\.


+ You will have a PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field \(no experience necessary\); OR a Masters degree in an above\-stated discipline, plus 5 years of relevant work experience
+ You possess experience with scanning electron microscopy and/or focused ion beam micro\-machining techniques
+ You can obtain both DOE Q and SCI security clearance, with willingness to take a polygraph exam if requested


Ideally, your background would also include:

+ Experience in one or more of the following areas: focused ion beam circuit edit and imaging; industrial IC manufacturing process engineering and failure analysis; or IC layout tools
+ Experience in the design and analysis of statistical experiments
+ Demonstrated successful execution of research\-and\-development projects, including project planning, defining milestones, and delivering results on time
+ Demonstrated collaboration skills for working in a team environment
+ Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to explain complex ideas clearly and concisely
+ Existing Department of Energy OR Department of Defense security clearance

We enable the national security missions of the defense and intelligence communities\. We bring to bear Sandias science, engineering, analytical and technological capabilities and expertise in support of the information technology and proliferation assessment challenges of these communities to reduce threats to our nation\. The mission of the Information Operations Program is to assess, design, implement and influence the development of national security\-related information systems and technologies in support of Defense and Intelligence customers and their national security missions\. In support of this mission, the Microelectronics Protection Technology group assesses, designs, and influences national security\-related information systems and technologies\. This multidisciplinary group takes a systems engineering approach focused principally on microelectronics and microsystems aspects of information systems, including evaluations, vulnerability assessments, and technology protection\. High impact contributions are made possible by delivering mission relevant work in coordination with Labs\-wide science and research supporting multiple government sponsors\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a SCI security clearance\.

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance and SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test\.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q\-level security clearance, which requires U\.S\. citizenship and SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test\.
