We are seeking an electronics design engineer to join the development program for the Mobile Guardian Transporter \(MGT\) project\. You will design Printed Wiring Assemblies \(PWAs\) for the project, utilizing electronic design toolsets including Cadence and Mentor Graphics\. You will participate in a team environment to design and develop electronics at the Sandia Albuquerque site\. Collaborating with other SNL or external organizations will be necessary to develop the board\-level requirements, implementation planning, design, development and qualification activities\.

On any given day, you may be asked to:

+ Design, Develop, and Qualify board\-level electronics designs for the Mobile Guardian Transporter \(MGT\) Project
+ Team with the broader MGT team to ensure that all performance and functional requirements are met
+ Work in an exciting and fast\-paced environment where you can make a visible impact on the national security posture of the United States

Required:

+ You have a bachelor's and advanced degree \(Masters or PhD\) in Electrical Engineering or other relevant field with evidence of strong academic achievement \(or a BS and 4 or more years of related work experience\)
+ Your background includes experience designing Printed Wiring Assemblies
+ You can obtain and maintain a DOE Q\-level security clearance

Desired:

Ideally, your background would also include:

+ Active DOE Q\-level or DOD Top Secret security clearance
+ Experience with electronics design on high\-consequence national security programs
+ Electronics design experience on FPGA/HDL based systems, microcontroller/embedded software based systems, digital, RF, and/or satellite communications systems
+ Experience in testing and qualifying electronic systems
+ Ability and interest to learn new technologies
+ A standout colleague capable of handling multiple assignments, with strong customer focus and excellent oral and written communication skills

Department Description:

The Communications and Electrical Systems Technology department \(6622\) provides excellence in the design of communication, electronic, and software systems; enhancing the security of weapons systems and special nuclear material during transportation\. The department serves the needs of customers from the NNSA Office of Secure Transportation \(OST\) and Nuclear Stockpile Management\. The department specializes in technical solutions for the Safeguards Transporter \(SGT\) and Mobile Guardian Transporter \(MGT\) projects with a focus on detecting, assessing, and rapidly responding to design basis threats\. A current focus area for the department is the development of systems enabling Integration Surety Architecture \(ISA\) capabilities in the SGT and MGT\. The department's efforts ensure the security of our nation's critical strategic assets during transportation\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\.
