We are seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer to join the NM Weapons Systems Engineering Center. You will leave every single day knowing you played a part in keeping our country safe and secure.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Work with a tightly coordinated, interdisciplinary team to design, qualify and produce nuclear weapon systems.
+ Derive customer requirements into functional requirements for subsystems and components.
+ Participate in system level electrical team focusing on a sub-discipline of the functional system. Examples include, fuzing systems, platform interfaces, safety systems, functional integration and data analysis.
+ Assist in representing the Systems Engineering team within the Component Engineering teams to ensure lower level piece parts are implemented in a manner that guarantees requirements are met across functional interfaces.
+ Participate in the execution of functional qualification activities including the planning, implementation and documentation of system level tests.
+ Design, build and qualify custom test equipment to verify system level designs meet requirements.
+ Develop, qualify and run software to analyze test results.
+ Author requirements for subsystem and system level production acceptance testing.
+ Interact with partner organizations across the laboratory and external organizations, such as, the Air Force, Navy, NNSA and others.


+ A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
+ The ability to obtain a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level security clearance.


+ Electrical hardware or software design and test experience.
+ Experience developing custom test equipment for large scale electrical/electronic systems.
+ Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, demonstrating initiative and leadership.
+ Motivation to work with a large integrated Systems team with broad interaction.
+ Must be able to apply strong interpersonal and communications skills working with a diverse team ranging from skilled laborers to PhD engineers/scientist.
+ Demonstrated ability to plan and execute technical work.
+ Ability to discover, understand and articulate constraints, options, paths-forward.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Commitment to operational safety, security and quality.
+ Active US DOE Q-level security clearance or DOD Top Secret clearance.

Department Description:

The NM Weapon Systems Engineering Center performs systems engineering and systems management for the stewardship of New Mexico developed nuclear weapons and associated nuclear weapon capabilities. Ensuring the safety, security, and reliability of weapons throughout their life cycle and the development and maintenance of competency through advanced development of new technologies are an essential part of Center activities.

Security Clearance:
