We are seeking an Electrical Engineer for the B61\-12 Functional Technical Basis Department \(Org\. 2358\) to join a team planning and executing qualification activities at the system and subassembly levels\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Support the electrical testing \(ELX\) team in the execution of electrical\-functional testing using newly designed, custom fabricated test equipment\. The ELX effort is critical to the B61\-12 qualification program and the team executes test activities in close partnership with the Electrical Design, Joint Test Assembly, Requirements, Qualification, Assembly, Hardware Management, Environmental Technical Basis, and Component/Subassembly teams\.
+ Perform variety of job functions to include test planning, test execution, tester qualification, and/or tester upgrades\.

Some travel is required to support development, test and program needs


+ Masters degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline and 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of a Masters degree
+ Experience with hazardous and classified materials/hardware
+ Active US DOE Q security clearance or Active DOD Top Secret clearance


+ Proficiency with computer hardware and software
+ Ability to work independently and in a team environment showing initiative and leadership
+ Motivation to work with a large integrated Systems team with broad interaction
+ Motivation to work in a laboratory facility and perform field operations
+ Have the ability to clearly communicate \(written and verbal\) with team members and customers Commitment to operational safety, security and quality
+ Experience with programming in LabVIEW
+ Experience with NW component or system design, development or production
+ Experience with electrical systems and the electrical operation of NW systems
+ Experience in planning and leading complex electrical test activities
+ Active US DOE security clearance

Department Description:

The B61\-12 Functional Technical Basis department is one of several departments leading the System\-level effort for the B61 Life Extension Program \(LEP\) at Sandia National Laboratories\. The LEP team consists of integrated departments that lead and coordinate the overall effort at Sandia and work with design, testing, and production agency partners across the Nuclear Weapons Complex and Department of Defense\. The Functional Technical Basis department leads the development and execution of all System\-level electrical testing activities and tester development\. The B61\-12 Functional Technical Basis department leads these efforts working with a variety of laboratory partners throughout Sandia\. The team is now executing in the full\-scale engineering phase including development and qualification\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance to start\.

Position requires an active Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance or active clearance with another US government agency, e\.g\., DOD, to be considered for this position\.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\.
