We are seeking an entry-level R&D S&E, Computer Science Engineer to join the Nuclear Weapon (NW) Data Analytics Team to deliver tools and be part of the EMR team to enable verification and qualification on the W80-4 and B61-12 programs. As the EMR Data Analyst you will be called upon to support test plan development and test execution as well as developing and implementing a complete toolset that find trends and answers questions on performance. You will be part of the fast-paced tightly integrated data analytics team utilizing the Scrum/Sprint process with GitLab configuration management.

As part of this diverse multidisciplinary team, you will use your skills including:

+ Software engineering.
+ Qualification testing.
+ Software architecture.
+ Modeling and simulation.
+ Data analytics.
+ Visualization.
+ Data science and analytics.
+ Algorithm design.

On a given day, you may be called to:

+ Collaborate with team members to determine best practices and team needs for software/GUIs.
+ Develop intuitive software that meets and exceeds the needs of the EMR team.
+ Be part of lab testing and apply the toolset to qualification data in a near real-time environment.
+ Coordinate with engineers on the W80-4 and B61-12 Design Team and Functional Tech Basis Team.
+ Resolve technical and programmatic challenges in a collaborative manner.
+ Write procedures to use applications.
+ Coach and train other team members on the use of software applications to ensure all employees are confident in the use of such applications.


+ Bachelors degree in a related discipline plus 2 years of relevant experience.
+ 3 years experience in software design and development.
+ Experience in Python.
+ Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
+ Current & active DOE Q-level security clearance.


+ Master's degree in a related discipline.
+ 2 years Nuclear Weapon experience.
+ Experience in qualification testing.
+ Experience in MATLAB, C++, and/or Java.
+ Experience working cooperatively with other internal organizations, as well as external customers.
+ Excellent communication skills, including the ability to develop and present briefings that are clear and compelling.

Department Description:

The 2358 Data Analytics Team is responsible for leading and coordinating the tool development to ensure accurate data analysis is completed on qualification and certification test data for the W80-4 and B61-12 Nuclear Weapon Programs. Our team uses a Scrum/Sprint approach with a high degree of coordination in the execution of our tool development to resolve issues in a prioritized method. The EMR team that youll be embedded in is responsible for EMR system qualification including key items such as test plan development, test execution, requirement verification, and documentation.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
