We are seeking an enthusiastic Quality Engineer to join a dynamic team supporting various nuclear and radiological facilities! Are you passionate about improving processes and systems to ensure highest quality standards? If so, you will want to apply for this opportunity.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Develop and operate quality control systems
+ Use statistical methods to diagnose and correct improper quality control practices
+ Define, select, and apply various techniques, including supplier qualification, certification, and evaluation
+ Identify sources of design inputs such as customer requirements and regulatory requirements
+ Identify and apply various evaluations and tests to verify and validate the design of products and processes
+ Lead quality assurance, causal analysis, corrective action and prevention action analysis, and measurement related activities based on a defect prevention methodology implemented through Plan-Do-Check-Act.

Required:

+ Bachelors degree in science, engineering, statistics, or mathematics
+ Five years of relevant experience
+ Active DOE Q Security Clearance

Desired:

+ Experience applying Quality Tools (e.g., RCA, Statistics, Lean methodology, Six Sigma)
+ Knowledge of 10CFR830 A, Applicable DOE orders (e.g., 414.1D, 422.1, 232.2A, 426.2, 433.1B, etc.), ANSI/ANS 15.8, NQA-1-2017, ISO 9001
+ Experience supporting operations in TA-V

Department Description:

Organization 1380, Nuclear Facilities and Applied Technologies (TA-V), operates three unique nuclear facilities supporting the mission of Sandia National Laboratories and the nation's interest. These facilities include the Annular Core Research Reactor (ACRR), the Sandia Pulsed Reactor (SPR), and the Auxiliary Hot Cell Facility (AHCF). It also operates radiological facilities such as the Gamma Irradiation Facility (GIF), the Low Dose Rate Irradiation Facility (LDRIF) and the Radiation Metrology Lab (RML).

The Nuclear Quality and Requirements Department (Organization 1382) supports the operation of the Nuclear Facilities and Applied Technologies (TA-V) organization by providing nuclear quality assurance, training, information management, and requirements accountability to ensure fulfillment of 10CFR830, Nuclear Safety Management, Quality Assurance.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
