PURPOSE:
Management of design, operational efficiency, maintenance and asset management of various airport conveyance systems such as baggage handling conveyor systems, elevators, escalators, moving walkways and passenger boarding bridges at Sea-Tac International Airport. 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and duties performed.  Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Review design of capital and tenant improvement projects on design, specifications, submittals, integration, testing, commissioning and activation for complex airport conveyance systems and their control and monitoring systems.
  • Coordination of design input from various parties, including internal team members and external consultants; and reflect the design input into design documents and drawings
  • Provide oversight, direction, coordination and team leadership for airport conveyance infrastructure projects.
  • Envision and create projects for capacity enhancement, modifications, renewal and replacement of conveyance systems.
  • Prepare and update specifications, standards, design guidelines and infrastructure drawings for airport conveyance systems.
  • Technical resource providing guidance and recommendations to Project Managers, Construction Mangers, Designers, Maintenance, Planning and Senior Management on new technology, systems and equipment.
  • Develop standards and policies and prepare strategies on implementing these airports wide.
  • Insure all systems are designed, constructed and operated within the requirements oflocal, state and federal regulations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge and technical expertise of engineering concepts, principles, designs, standards, practices, programming, integration, construction, testing, commissioning, activation, maintenance and appropriate safety and security codes (ASME, TSA etc.). Expert knowledge and advanced skills to develop, review, and install conveyance systems. Advanced knowledge of specialized system model, principles, practices, and procedures with ability to recommend changes to model. In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations for conveyance systems.
 
Advanced skills to improve process and ability to develop and implement innovative improvement to conveyance infrastructure. Skilled in communicating technical information to non-technical audiences and decision-makers. Demonstrate effective leadership skills to mentor and advise various group and staff, including supervisory duties. Skill in planning, organizing, reviewing and evaluating the work of others project engineer/architect.
 
Ability to lead new technology program and innovation for specialized system. Stakeholder management including discussion with stakeholders to capture the system and user requirements and incorporation into design documents and drawings. Ability to develop, facilitate, implement and execute operational and system requirements, to include functional tests, commissioning, and long range strategic objectives and plans. Ability to plan and develop projects, budgets, schedules and to deliver quality projects.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Combination of education and experience demonstrating knowledge, skills and abilities equivalent to:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited school;
  • Fifteen (15) years of experience in design, operations and/or maintenance of conveyance systems; and
  • Current Professional Engineer License.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s Degree in mechanical engineering or related field; and
  • Fifteen plus (15+) years of experience in design, operations and/or maintenance of airport conveyance systems at a medium or large hub airport.

 

Work Environment

Will generally work in an office environment.

Additional Details

Weekly Standard Hours:
Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week).
