We are seeking a proactive, experienced, and team-oriented Operations & Engineering Lead with heavy industrial and Safety experience to support the Facilities organization with construction, maintenance and services activities. The overall scope includes a wide range of oversight of industrial activities. Using code inspection expertise, as well as relevant technical knowledge in design and construction and project domain knowledge, works in a peer relationship with all disciplines, engineering personnel to develop customer requirements for complex and high-rigor projects.

Projects and programs typically have significant internal and external visibility, and many are tracked at the Laboratory level and directly by DOE, for which Sandias performance is evaluated. You will support construction contractors, customers, sponsors, and suppliers, to ensure that the project meets scope, schedule, and cost requirements per DOE Orders and Sandias requirements.

On any given day you may be called on to:

+ Execute programmatic and technical decisions regarding the direction of a project and is held accountable for the results of those decisions.
+ Work directly with customers (internal/external) to develop requirements.
+ Be responsible for leading the project using project management skills including:

- Project plan development and execution
- Project scheduling to completion
- Project monitoring and control
- Following the DOE approved Program Plan for Projects
- Integrated change control for all projects including large, complex, and high-rigor projects
- Contribute to value engineering proposals to reduce cost of projects.
+ Use engineering and other relevant technical expertise to manage processes to ensure that all requirements are identified, negotiated, and verified with the customer while technically contributing to the requirements' analysis.
+ Prepare timely and accurate reports which highlight key technical and programmatic issues and summarize information at a manageable level.
+ Use a strong technical understanding of the risks and opportunities to ensure that all are properly prioritized and addressed.

Required:

+ Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety or STEM field plus eight (8) or more years of experience in construction safety oversight, or a Master's degree in Occupational Health & Safety or STEM field plus four (4) or more years of experience in construction safety oversight or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
+ A board certification in an ES&H discipline/field.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain an active DOE L or Q- level security clearance.

Ideally, your background would also include:

+ Advanced degree in Occupational Safety and Health
+ Knowledge of DOE ES&H requirements
+ Line item project experience

Department Description:

The Facilities ESH, Records, and IT Department supports ES&H/Asbestos Management efforts and provides records management, communications, publications, and IT support to the Center.

Security Clearance:
