We are seeking an experienced R&D Mechanical Technologist to develop, fabricate and test flight hardware in a fast\-paced environment in support of Missile Defense Applications\. You will have the opportunity to impact the development and performance of Advanced Concepts experiments and Mission Hardware\.

On any given day, you may be required to:

+ Lead or collaborate with teams of other technologists on the design and development of a variety of mechanical components or assemblies to meet defined requirements
+ Working independently or in collaboration with other technologists, using hand tools or machine tools, ensure that fabricated components are assembled in the manner designed
+ Make independent decisions, ensure the fabrication of prototype designs in the most efficient manner
+ Integrate assembled prototypes into mission systems
+ Participate in design peer reviews

Required:

+ Associates degree in mechanical design technology or related engineering field or equivalent experience
+ Experience in CAD systems \(CREO or SolidWorks\)
+ Experience in mechanical design, qualification, fabrication, and production
+ Ability to hold and maintain DOE Q\-level security clearance

Desired:

+ BS in mechanical/electrical engineering or related discipline
+ Experience as a Machinist
+ Bachelors in engineering or related engineering field
+ Experience with flight hardware
+ Experience with electrical cabling and interconnects
+ Experience designing for manufacturability
+ Experience with additive manufacturing

Department Description:

The Advanced Concepts and Mission Payloads department is focused on defining advanced technology concepts and future target mission requirements in support of Missile, Air and Space Defense programs\. Additionally, the department tests concepts both experimentally and in flight to deliver modeling and simulation truth data, while providing mission payloads in support of Missile Defense Agency's \(MDA\) Ballistic Missile Defense System\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\.
