We are seeking a highly motivated Manager, Safeguards & Security Planning & Operations to join our dynamic team\. You will provide leadership and overall management for a Safeguards and Security \(S&S\) organization, which may encompass one or more discrete S&S Program or projects, such as Program Management Operations, Physical Protection, Information Security, Personnel Security, Materials Control and Accountability, Foreign Visits and Assignments, International Security, Security Incident Management Program \(SIMP\), and Protective Force\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Broker with programs, organizations, and facilities to identify and mitigate S&S risks\.
+ Design, develop, and implement program and lab\-level systems and structures to enable mission success, while ensuring program and regulatory compliance\.
+ Apply technical expertise to evaluate capability of existing sites, facilities, and infrastructure to meet programmatic needs\.
+ Set the technical design requirements for security, operational safety, environmental constraints, development, or capability reduction of organizations for space, facilities, and utilities\.


+ Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline plus eight years of relevant experience\.
+ 2 years of leadership experience such as leading teams and projects\.


+ Ability to develop and nurture effective internal customer relationships\.
+ Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills\.
+ Ability to model behaviors that reflect Sandia's core values\.
+ Expertise and competencies appropriate to the organization\.
+ Demonstrated knowledge in department roles\.
+ Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and complete multiple programs and projects\.
+ Recommends modifications to Sandia's Corporate Policy System operating policies\.
+ Capable of interacting effectively with all levels of internal partners and external customers, including the ability to build trust, gain consensus, resolve conflicts, and manage effective working relationships\.
+ Ability to organize, prioritize, create strategy, and provide vision as needed for a team of program management professionals\.
+ Ability to gain consensus, develop, execute, and plan to deliver results\.
+ Effectively lead people and guide multidisciplinary teams\.
+ Ability to mentor and lead the organization on department tasks and organizational goals and objects\.
+ Knowledge of Sandia's policies and procedures\.
+ Ability to work with sensitive information and classified matter\.
+ Knowledge of the technical or operational S&S discipline and profession\.
+ Knowledge of regulatory and Sandia requirements related to S&S\.

Department Description:

The Safeguards & Security \(S&S\) Program's purpose is to protect people, information, facilities, and material to enable our national security mission\. S&S solves security challenges by listening to customer needs and then developing and implementing solutions\. S&S continues to monitor and manage risks that could adversely affect the security of our operations and safety of our workforce\. Those risks include:

+ a continued increase in Incidents of Security Concern \(IOSCs\);
+ an increase in clearance processing times;
+ an active shooter;
+ an insider threat that may maliciously release critical and/or classified information;
+ Members of the Workforce who travel and conduct business internationally

S&S is responsible for leading efforts to develop, implement, and successfully execute a diverse portfolio of S&S programs: Classification, Security Incident Management Program \(SIMP\), Classified Matter Protection & Control \(CMPC\), Operations Security \(OPSEC\), Security Awareness, S&S Training, Personnel Security, Deployed Security, Material Control & Accountability \(MC&A\)/Nuclear Material Management, and International Security Operations\. The S&S Program Manager is responsible for leading activities associated with strategy and program management\. Additionally, the S&S Program Manager is responsible for leading assurance activities associated with risk management, requirements management, performance metrics, assessments, issues management, and operational reviews\. /The S&S Program also leads and supports DOE, NNSA, and the Nuclear Security Enterprise \(NSE\) initiatives\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q\-level security clearance, which requires U\.S\. citizenship\.
