This position within the Sanctions & List Screening Analytics team of the Corporate Risk Management is responsible for supporting analytical and data requests of enterprise Sanctions and List Screening programs. This role includes, but not limited to, providing qualitative and quantitative analysis for developing new or updating existing thresholds and rules, monitoring trends, assisting with implementation or improvement of the programs or systems. This individual will also participate in data quality efforts and analytical support for on-going or expansion of List screening programs.

  • Participate and lead analytical and ad-hoc projects including design, data preparation, development, testing, implementation, documentation, and on-going monitoring & refinement
  • Conduct advanced statistical analyses to identify patterns, industry risks, or any complex, critical issues concerning the trends associated with list screening or other financial crimes
  • Provide data support including data extraction, aggregation and quality check, assist simulation and ad-hoc analysis
  • Develop and deploy queries against enterprise data warehouses and the collection of system data for internal metric reporting
  • Monitor rule/model performance by designing, producing & maintaining meaningful, robust metrics and reports identifying key performance indicators
  • Collaborate with technology business partners, prepare implementation documents and participate in implementation of new or updated tools, and thresholds/rules
  • Work with Model Risk Management (MRM) or Internal Audit teams to handle model risk management related tasks
  • Work independently with minimum supervision, lead projects and provide guidance to junior team members
  • Act as subject matter expert, provide innovative and new ideas to improve existing processes by identifying and evaluating new data elements, advanced analytics & methodology, new techniques & tools

Minimum Qualifications

At a minimum, here's what we need from you:

  • Master's degree or above with emphasis in Data Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering or related quantitative fields
  • 2+ years working experience (inclusive of research and internships) in advanced analytics or technical fields. Prefer in financial services industry, or regulatory agency or law firm involving compliance issues
Preferred Qualifications

If we had our say, we'd also look for:

  • Proven knowledge and expertise in advanced statistical and data mining techniques (machine learning, text mining and social network analysis preferred)

  • High degree of proficiency with statistical software and other analytical tools (SAS, SQL, Excel in PC and UNIX environment for data extraction, reporting, and advanced analysis)

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and precisely with business partners and vendors

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision as well as work with team members, also work well under dynamic environment

  • Project management skills, problem solving skills, and thought leadership

  • AML/OFAC related analytical knowledge and working experience preferred
