We are seeking an Intern - Telemetry Engineering R&D Grad Year Round

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Support design of FPGA-based electronics hardware with RF data communication capabilities
+ Support testing and test planning and design feedback
+ Design and test cable and interconnect engineering (design and test)
+ Explore novel data communication methods and real-time data displays
+ Link margin analysis and validation through testing
+ Design architectures to support flexibility or improved capability
+ Conduct experiments related to forward-looking technology

You will be working with a Sandia mentor to support the Telemetry team's efforts to design, develop, simulate and/or test prototypes. Your interest and background will help determine your actual assignment.

Required:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Earned bachelor's degree
+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
+ Ability to work up to 30 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U.S. citizenship

Additional Requirements:

+ Ability to work onsite at Sandia in Livermore, CA during the academic year (not just during academic breaks)

Desired:

+ Pursuing a degree in electrical engineering, physics, aerospace engineering or related field
+ Coursework or project experience in circuit design and/or FPGA programming
+ Experience with safety aspects of project work
+ MATLAB programming experience
+ Experience with design tools such as schematic, layout or CAD programs
+ Interest in multidisciplinary work
+ Knowledge of and experience with scientific and engineering methods
+ Knowledge of and experience with designing, planning, and executing projects with low technology readiness levels
+ Ability to team across disciplines
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills

Department Description:

Sandia California's Telemetry Engineering IV Department develops and maintains telemetry systems in support of the nuclear deterrence surveillance mission. Telemetry systems has responsibility for all aspects of telemetry development, including conceptual design, prototype development and testing, and transitioning production work to DOE production agencies. Telemetry systems integrate precision sensor electronics and signal conditioning with RF communication systems to support flight testing of Joint Test Assemblies. Work is performed by teams of electrical engineers and mechanical engineers, in partnership with quality engineering, reliability engineering, and project management.

Security Clearance:
