Would you like to join the nations largest laboratory focused on the nations most pressing technical/R&D problems? Sandia National Labs has many opportunities to collaborate with some of the greatest subject matter experts in the world. The RF Microsystems deptarment is seeking a summer intern with experience in analog circuit design and test, RF circuit design and test, microwave active cirucit design and test, or electromagnetic theory and modeling.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Design Application Specific Integrated Circuit sub-components
+ Test Integrated Circuit devices
+ Model electromagnetic fields within sub-components
+ Problemsolve complex microwave circuitry
+ Measure consumer off the shelf analog or micorwave components against specified performance
+ Measure custom designed precision RF components

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Earned bachelor's degree
+ Currently attending and enrolled full time (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
+ Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U.S. citizenship

Note: If you have not yet started your graduate program, please apply to an undergraduate intern position.


+ Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering Preferred.
+ Strong communication skills
+ Willingness to learn

Competency in:

+ Analog circuit design
+ Digital circuit design
+ Using RF test and measure equipments such as: network analysers, signal generators, spectrum analysers, o-scopes, RF power meters, DMM
+ Using probe station for die charaterization
+ Technical documentation

Experience with one of the following software tools:

+ Cadence virtuoso, pSpice, ADS, Matlab, LabView, Skill, EMX, HFSS, CST

Department Description:

The RF Microsystems department performs research, design, modeling, characterization, and qualification of RF Microsystems. We have a focus on designing, testing and qualifing custom design integrated circuit components, as well as specialty wireless sensors. We have capabilities for developing between prototypes to fully qualified hardware. We provide unique solutions to our customers in nuclear weapons, DoD, non-proliferation agencies, and subsystem departments (SAR, surety, & ISR). Our research interest include advanced RF sensors and communication devices unique to national security applications.

Security Clearance:
