We are seeking an Intern Year Round - R&D Undergrad

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Assist our R&D staff with process development and characterization for existing and future technologies

+ Learn about production management and provide oversight to multiple laboratory missions
+ Design and startup new manufacturing process equipment
+ Perform studies of manufacturing processes, develop process improvement techniques, and design experiments to validate performance against design parameters
+ Develop and implement automation technologies for production and inspection

Required:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
+ Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
+ Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U.S. citizenship

Desired:

Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office products

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Some familiarity with mechanical fabrication processes such as welding, extrusion, forging, or smelting

Experimental, data acquisition and data processing experience

Experience in computational modeling, particularly CFD and FEA

Familiarity with data acquisition systems

Department Description:

The Power Source Components Department has two major tasks. The first is the production of batteries for the Concurrent Design and Manufacturing program for which our engineers oversee the production of thermal, silver zinc, and other batteries at selected vendors in the U.S. These batteries must meet stringent quality control requirements as well as rigorous test requirements in order to be shipped for use on DP programs. Our second task includes the design, development, assembly and maintenance of various testers for the Power Source Technology Group's components and other products. We carry out tests not only for our DP customer but also for WFO and other customers as well.
