We are seeking an Intern Year Round \- R&D Undergrad

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Work on various engineering assignments with production engineers
+ Help in the laboratory to set up new production processes
+ Help qualify new equipment for processing product
+ Assist with writing work instructions or designing new mechanical parts for implementation in production

Required:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
+ Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0
+ Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U\.S\. citizenship

Additional Requirements

+ Experience with mechanical or industrial engineering concepts
+ Ability to work independently on a variety of engineering assignments
+ Knowledge of basic circuits and interest in battery technology

Department Description:

Power Sources Production Engineering \(Org\. 2548\) is responsible for the internal and external production of power source components to support the nuclear deterrent mission\. This work includes thermal batteries, lithium primary packs, and silver zinc batteries for joint test assemblies and nuclear weapon applications\. Staff in Org\. 2548 apply technical expertise, develop suppliers, and manage risk throughout production\. Additionally, Org\. 2548 provides materials, planning, procurement management, and supply chain monitoring to meet product realization schedules\. Staff in Org\. 2548 work with next assembly stakeholders to coordinate schedule requirements, collaborate with quality engineers to develop acceptance plans, and team with NNSA on product acceptances\. Org\. 2548 maintains detailed earned value metrics to communicate accurate statuses to internal and external stakeholders\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted L\-level security clearance\.
