We are seeking a Graduate intern to assist staff members with electrical design projects for the Magnetic and Frequency Department products, primarily magnetic device designs and electrical testing\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Conduct spice modeling of magnetic components in analog circuits
+ Perform troubleshooting of analog circuits and test modules
+ Design, breadboard and test electrical sub circuits \(small scale analog design\)
+ Print circuit board design, including schematic capture and board layout
+ Develop and perform test procedures to verify designs meet requirements
+ Assist in the design of qualification tests to obtain data from electrical designs in environmental tests


You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Earned bachelor's degree
+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0
+ Ability to work up to 30 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U\.S\. citizenship

Additional Requirements:

+ Earned Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or another engineering discipline relevant to the job requirements
+ Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or another engineering discipline relevant to the job requirements


+ Familiarity with electrical test equipment \(o\-scopes, power supplies, LCR meters, etc\.\)
+ Experience with digital and analog design
+ Experience with printed circuit board design and layout process and tools

Department Description:

The Magnetic and Frequency Devices Department is responsible for the design, development, qualification, delivery, and surveillance of high reliability electronic products for NW and other National Security customers\. These custom products include magnetic devices \(inductors, transformers, solenoid coils, mag amp devices, baluns, coupled inductors\), quartz controlled RF clocks and oscillators, and JTA sensors \(accelerometers, gyroscopes, temperature, pressure\)\. The department uses the Realize Product Subsystem \(RPSS\) to realize Mark Quality \(QC\-1\) product that covers the complete product realization cycle of design, development, specification, qualification, procurement, delivery and stockpile support either through our partners at the Kansas City Plant \(KCP\) or via Sandia External Production program \(SEP\)\. We employ defect\-prevention strategies to gain an understanding of design margin during the development cycle\. The department's capabilities include the ability to address multiple challenging requirements related to meeting high reliability numbers over extremely long life, radiation tolerance, nuclear safety requirements, and size and weight restrictions\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted L\-level security clearance\.
