The Nuclear Weapons Arming and Fuzing Systems Group is seeking outstanding graduate students majoring in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields of study\. Students will work in high\-caliber, cohesive teams to support current and future arming and fuzing subsystem development and assist in the manufacture high\-consequence products\. Projects within the center include, but are not limited to: Analysis and design of digital signal processing systems, RFIC design and engineering, radar system engineering RF design, real\-time embedded system design and verification \(VHDL\), ASIC design and verification, among others\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Join existing project teams in designing, developing, implementing, testing, and delivering advanced arming and fuzing systems
+ Assist with analysis and design of digital signal processing systems
+ Apply basic signals and systems knowledge to analyze radar performance
+ Perform Radio Frequency Integrated Circuit \(RFIC\) design and engineering
+ Assist with radar system engineering and/or RF circuit design
+ Perform real\-time embedded system design and verification \(VHDL\)
+ Perform write software to control functions within an embedded controller
+ Assist with application Specific Integrated Circuit \(ASIC\) design and verification
+ Perform RF measurements in the laboratory

Required:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Earned bachelor's degree
+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0
+ Ability to work up to 30 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U\.S\. citizenship

Additional Requirements:

+ Pursuing a graduate degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields of study

Desired:

+ GPA of at least 3\.7 out of 4\.0 for all degrees earned
+ Working knowledge and understanding of an engineering or science\-related field as listed in the required section
+ A granted U\.S\. Department of Energy \(DOE\) security clearance
+ Familiarity with

- MATLAB for digital signal processing design and waveform analysis
- VHDL or other hardware description languages
- C/C\+\+ or other similar software languages
- RF system design
- RF test instrumentation like spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power meters
- CADENCE and/or ADS or other RF integrated circuit design tools

Department Description:

The Radar Integration/Qual Department, 5352, is partnered with Radar Fuzing, 5353, and are together responsible for design, development, qualification and support of Radar Fuzes for nuclear weapon systems\. The technical emphasis of department 5352 is radar integration and testing, radar qualification, and radar performance analysis for the B61\-12, W88 ALT 370, and the Mk21 Fuze Replacement programs\. The programmatic responsibilities for 5352 are design, development, and qualification the MC5003 for the W88 ALT 370 and the Mk21 programs\.

Security Clearance:

This position does not currently require a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted security clearance\.

Sandia will conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record checks, and employment and education verifications\. Further, employees in New Mexico must pass a U\.S\. Air Force background screen for access to the work site\.
