We are seeking an Information Systems Architect to provide system level support infrastructures that facilitate the delivery of scientific and engineering computing environments. On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ System administration, fault isolation, diagnostics and repair of computer systems running the Linux operating system
+ Develop and/or modify information systems
+ Analyze business and user needs, advise on technical solutions and alternatives, and document requirements
+ Coordinate design work and integration for existing and future systems, including subsystems
+ Analyze overall architecture of systems including hardware and software
+ Coordinate all IT systems and services and provide IT support to the customer community
+ Provide software and application management for customer-facing applications and internal software tools
+ Seek and participate in development opportunities to grow your capabilities and to mentor others


+ Bachelors degree in relevant discipline plus five (5) or more years of experience; or 13 plus years of related experience in lieu of degree
+ Experience with Linux and /or Unix system administration
+ Experience writing basic shell scripts
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance


+ Experience applying Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
+ Experience with cloud and virtual environments
+ Experience in automated system configuration management
+ Experience building, configuring, installing and maintaining RedHat Enterprise Linux
+ Experience in configuring, compiling and installing Linux software
+ Experience with Git version control system
+ Experience in multiple scripting languages (python, bash, perl)
+ Experience with configuration management software (puppet, ansible)
+ In-depth knowledge of LDAP authentication and authorization protocols
+ Experience producing detailed technical documentation
+ VMware certification or training
+ Experience with high performance computing systems
+ System administration experience for Linux/UNIX operating systems and/or Intel x86 platform
+ Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify creative solutions
+ Experience with hardware architectural design and system integration and implementation
+ Demonstrated knowledge of networking, data storage and retention and/or highly scalable storage systems
+ Experience with fault investigation and anomaly resolution, security and information assurance
+ Experience working in a classified environment
+ Technical certifications through Red Hat
+ Ability to function in a dynamic, fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team
+ Good interpersonal, communication, prioritization, and organizational skills
+ Knowledge of ITIL and Cyber Security standard methodologies
+ An Active DOE Q security clearance

Department Description:

Mission Computing Services (MCS) enables the delivery of critical National Security programs by providing tailored IT services to the IT, Scientific, and Engineering Communities at Sandia. MCS provides System Administration, Software Development, Cybersecurity, Analysts, and various other IT support in the classified/unclassified environments for Linux/Windows operating systems. Mission Computing Services partners with sister organizations and other corporate IT providers in the delivery of its services and is engaged in technology development efforts to transform Sandias cyber security posture and members of the workforce productivity.

Security Clearance:
