We are seeking a self-motivating R&D General Technologist to perform electronic material and device fabrication and characterization to support a variety of Sandia missions.

On any given day, you will:

+ Preparation of test specimens for energy storage and electronic materials evaluation
+ Electrical, physical and electrochemical characterization of materials and devices using a range of techniques
+ Configure experimental apparatus including setting up data acquisition systems

Required:

+ Associates degree in a STEM discipline (e.g. mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, computer science, materials science) OR equivalent experience
+ Experience with design, assembly, testing and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical devices
+ Ability to hold a Department of Energy Q-level clearance

Desired:

+ Bachelor's degree in materials science, engineering, physics, chemistry, or a related field
+ Experience with data acquisition systems, computer control systems or transducer electronics
+ Experience in the operation of characterization instrumentation, or an aptitude for working with hardware and instrumentation
+ Experience with laboratory set-up, health and safety concerns, lab maintenance activities and working with hazardous chemicals

Department Description:

We are the Quantum & Electronic Materials (08345) team! We advance the state-of-knowledge in quantum and electronic properties of materials, and collaborates closely with other domain knowledge experts to use these advances to enable and accelerate development of emerging non-conventional computing, communication, quantum information devices, and sensors. Our research efforts include: advanced materials and device concepts for ultra-low-energy computing and sensing, nano-electronics, quantum topological materials, quantum-confined low-dimensional systems, advanced materials and device concepts for neuromorphic computing, materials synthesis and device fabrication, and computational and theoretical condensed matter physics.
