We are seeking an experienced Facilities Strategic Planner to join our high\-energy team\. You will be responsible for developing and articulating engagement to develop long\-range strategic direction to sustain Sandias technical sites and critical capabilities\. You will partner directly with one or more technical and/or support organizations to develop analyses, studies, projections, and plans needed to sustain facilities and site infrastructure\. You will help translate customer mission needs to facilities and infrastructure requirements, help prioritize needs, and integrate customer requirements with corporate site planning stewardship and regulatory compliance requirements\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Communicate with management, engineers, architects, and financial personnel on customers long\-range facility needs to mitigate mission risk\.
+ Collaborate with architectural and engineering firms to manage project development activity\.
+ Identify a customers facility investment needs, likely funding sources, and resources needed in cost and time to plan and implement project development\.
+ Respond to National Nuclear Security Administration \(NNSA\), Other Government Agency \(OGA\), and/or internal corporate investment calls\.
+ Lead and develop planning studies to address Program, Division, or Center\-specific facilities needs, including development of project charters to support need, define scope, schedule, and budget to support Sandias mission objectives\.
+ Articulate how project development fits into big\-picture campus and site\-wide long\-range planning initiatives, and short\- and mid\-range implementation plans\.
+ Provide information that feeds into corporate and NNSA data bases and data sources used to manage facility assets\.

Required:

+ Bachelors degree in Architecture, Urban/Regional Planning, Engineering, Project Management, or related field\.
+ 8 years of experience in strategic planning and project development for infrastructure systems, and science, engineering, or technical facility projects\.
+ Ability to obtain professional accreditation in Architecture, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design \(LEED\), Project Management, Engineering, or Urban/Regional Planning within a year\.

Desired:

+ An advanced degree in architecture, Urban/Regional Planning or Engineering
+ Demonstrated ability to thrive in a team environment\.
+ Strong communication and presentation skills with ability to adapt message to collaborate with a broad range of management and staff\.
+ Experience with strategic planning, regional planning, and/or broad facility or infrastructure planning\.
+ AIA or AICP accreditation\(s\)\.
+ Strong experience with Architectural Programming or Project Development\.
+ Experience with or general knowledge of the broader NNSA complex, experience within other highly regulated environments\.
+ Working in a matrix management environment\.
+ Active DOE or DoE security clearance\.

Department Description:

The Site Planning and Partnerships Department consists of three major parts\. The Planning team engages in long\-term, comprehensive planning for sites within the context of their surrounding communities for development and redevelopment to meet mission, balanced with the responsibility for stewardship of federally\-owned assets on behalf of the DOE/NNSA\. Project Development oversees projects from a conceptual idea through scoping and validation to a funded project\. Partnership Strategic Planners are aligned with major technical divisions to understand customer needs to plan for mid\- and long\-range facility and infrastructure investment needs\. We are also responsible for managing, planning, tracking, and reporting progress of the Corporate Investment Plan at the funding program level\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\.
