We are seeking an Environmental Technologist to provide technical support to recognize, measure, evaluate, and control potential health hazards\. On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Provide technical support to recognize, measure, evaluate, and control potential health hazards, including ionizing radiation, radioactive material, noise, and toxic, carcinogenic, or other harmful materials;
+ Support environmental compliance programs such as air quality, groundwater quality, and water quality;
+ Maintain medical and toxicological information and awareness regarding all products to provide line and staff functions with information and advice which will ensure that their activities will not jeopardize the health or well\-being of employees, customers, or the public;
+ Supports both field and laboratory activities;
+ Establishes procedures to maintain current information on products;
+ Assists in quality control of analytical methodology;
+ Maintains ongoing surveillance of special areas of toxicology, such as flame retardants and plastics\.



+ High School diploma plus relevant experience;
+ Skill and knowledge in field operations such as obtaining samples for air quality, groundwater, or waste water programs;
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q\-level security clearance\.


+ Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field;
+ Skill in related fields such as mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, industrial hygiene, and health physics;
+ Interpersonal skills relevant to collaboration with diverse groups;
+ Current DOE clearance\.

Department Description:

This organization focuses on identification of areas of environmental concern at Sandia's Albuquerque site, areas that may include landfills, groundwater contamination, or other concerns that stem from operations at Sandia since its inception\. The organization consists of two teams, the Environmental Restoration team that strives to remediate or otherwise control contamination and the Long\-Term Stewardship team that monitors the effectiveness of Sandia's remediation and contamination control approaches\. This organization represents Sandia to the New Mexico Environment Department on matters pertaining to remediation and control of contamination\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q\-level security clearance, which requires U\.S\. citizenship\.
