Are you passionate about your work and want to join a dynamic team that solves challenging issues for our nation's security? If so, you could be the Environmental Professional we are seeking.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Assist in compiling and reviewing environmental information and analyses required to prepare compliance documentation that assess relevant environmental issues.
+ Work with line customers to ensure their day to day operations are meeting environmental requirements.
+ Ensure that the technical information and analysis used in NEPA reviews accurately reflects the operations and activities associated with the proposed action being reviewed.
+ Manage and interpret environmental analytical data.
+ Monitor and evaluate any changes to federal, state, and local environmental laws, regulations, and compliance requirements relative to environmental planning and develop recommendations to meet changing environmental regulatory requirements.
+ Advise management, providing recommended actions to ensure environmental compliance.
+ Work with other department SMEs to ensure that requirements are integrated with environmental permits and requirements.
+ Support document control and records management as appropriate.


+ Bachelor degree in an environmental, natural science, or related discipline, plus (5) years of experience.
+ (3) to (5) years of relevant NEPA or environmental regulatory compliance and analysis experience.
+ Knowledge and experience with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
+ Ability to function in a team environment.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance.


+ Masters degree in an environmental, natural science, or related discipline and three to five years of relevant environmental regulatory compliance and analysis experience.
+ Ability to produce products with short lead time, and work independently with minimal supervision.
+ Experience in regulatory compliance and analysis.
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple customers, delivering excellent customer service.
+ Familiarity with the DOE regulations for NEPA compliance.
+ Desired experience in the preparation of environmental documentation such as environmental assessments.
+ Strong people and customer service skills: and, Strong presentation skills.

The mission of Sandia's Environmental Systems Department is to assist with work processes to minimize negative environmental impacts. Through proper planning; relevant monitoring and surveillance; and collecting, analyzing, and distributing data, we assist in meeting regulatory compliance requirements and in ensuring the safety and success of Members of the Workforce, the DOE, and community.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
