We are seeking a highly-motivated Engineering Program/Project Lead who is passionate about building a safe and healthy work culture to join our dynamic Safety and Health Engineering team as the Ergonomics Program Manager. The position requires the development and maintenance of a high-quality ergonomics program and performance of high-quality, technically-sound assessment of ergonomic hazards. This role has high visibility with both laboratory wide impact and NNSA/DOE complex impact.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Perform ergonomics assessment of a wide variety of work environments and activities from R&D laboratory work to field testing to production work.
+ Identify problems; collect, analyze and interpret data; and identify potential control strategies to mitigate or control risks.
+ Develop and improve corporate ergonomics specifications, standards, and procedures.
+ Write technical ergonomics assessment reports.
+ Collaborate with other highly-trained professionals across the occupational safety and health disciplines and line management to ensure proper work hazard evaluation and control.
+ Travel to remote sites occasionally unplanned.

In this role the person will have ergonomics responsibility for all Sandia sites including but not limited to Sandia NM, Sandia CA, Tonopah Test Range, Kauai Launch Complex, and other remote locations.


+ Masters degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering or a closely-related discipline and 10 years of experience; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
+ Certified Professional Ergonomist by the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics (BCPE).
+ Competence in the field of ergonomics as demonstrated through a combination of related education, training, and work experience.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security and higher clearances as necessary.


+ Active DOE/DOD security clearance.
+ Ability to work effectively with others in a teaming environment under minimal supervision.
+ Excellent customer relationship focus and workplace interpersonal skills.
+ Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
+ Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
+ Self-starter who can work with line customers and other Safety and Health professionals in a fast-paced, critical deadline, teaming atmosphere.
+ Strong customer service and teamwork experience.
+ Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
+ Ability to work effectively with others.

Safety and Health Engineering provides the tools and expertise to evaluate and control occupational hazards that may occur during work, while also ensuring SNL meets contractual and promulgated worker safety and health requirements. Safety and Health Engineering is responsible for a diverse set of occupational safety and health programs that includes Ergonomics, Electrical Safety, Confined Space, Laser Safety, Respiratory Protection, Chemical Safety and Hearing Conservation along with many others.
