Job Summary

We are seeking an entry-level engineer to support research projects targeted at developing and testing communication technologies to advance delivery and use of electricity. The candidate will be given the opportunity to support these and other similar tasks.   

Job Functions

  • Performs routine engineering/ scientific analysis in technical or scientific areas.

  • Works directly with EPRI staff and minimal interaction with members at direction of manager.

  • Work is performed under general supervision.

  • Develop and execute test procedures, analyze, document and report results. Must be familiar with networking, peripheral interfaces, signal processing and debugging tools such as bus analyzers and oscilloscopes

  • Assist project managers with testing of new technologies in the field. Tasks may include; configure hardware, create installation or user manuals, install and track the operational state of fielded devices and troubleshooting

  • Communicate results and findings with a project team comprised of technical and non-technical experts through email, conference calls and webinars.

  • Lead and/or participate in the design and programming of digital and analog electronics

  • Research, design, develop, release, maintain and support embedded C/C++ firmware applications.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience required

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Entry level engineering position.

  • Incumbents must be able to exercise judgment, diligence, and attention to detail and demonstrate an aptitude for carrying out responsible technical assignments

  • Effectively work as part of a team

  • Intermediate verbal and written communication skills

  • Requires supervision and guidance to conduct specific research tasks and complete projects

  • Works closely with contractors or staff to complete project research

  • May participate in multiple projects

  • Individual contributor

Ideal Candidate

  • Knowledge of LabView, C#, Visual Basic, Java or Python is a plus.
  • B.S in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science is preferred
