We are seeking an Emergency Planner to join our dynamic team. We ensure the laboratories are prepared for emergency events through comprehensive emergency planning, training, exercise, and readiness assurance programs. We also provide response support and guidance during emergency events from the Emergency Operations Center.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Develop, maintain, and implement emergency plans and procedures for the implemenation of a formal emergency management program
+ Participate in the development and implementation of training that will prepare emergency management program elements and the workforce for emergency events
+ Serve as an emergency responder in the Emergency Operations Center
+ Interface with a variety of personnel and organizations, including line management and staff, and external contacts such as federal, state, and local emergency management, law enforcement, and government representatives
+ Plan, conduct, and evaluate emergency preparedness drills and exercises to ensure the readiness of the workforce

Required:

+ Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline plus 5 years or more of experience, or equivalent combination of related education and experience.

Desired:

+ Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Systems Engineering, Business Systems, Quality Assurance, or 4 years equivalent experience
+ Emergency management experience
+ Prior law enforcement, military, or fire department service with experience in emergency management, crisis management or tactical response such as SWAT or other tactical units
+ Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining emergency plans and procedures
+ Experience in developing and conducting field exercises, drills and table-top activities
+ Experience in emergency response practices, including hazardous material response and the incident command system
+ Experience preparing procedures, reports, and presentations and researching and obtaining information
+ Experience assessing system-level risks, vulnerabilities and development of mitigation plans

Department Description:

Sandia Security Operations (SECOPS) protects people and assets to ensure mission success. SECOPS has responsibility for Physical Security, Classification, Classified Matter Protection and Control (CMPC), Operations Security (OPSEC), Security Awareness, the Security Incident Management Program (SIMP) and Emergency Management. SECOPS oversees Site Visitor Control and manages a 24/7 Protective Force.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
