The B61-12 Technical Basis Team is seeking a highly motivated electronics technologist to support system and sub-system lab and field electrical testing (ELX). Your invaluable contribution to the electrical functional testing in one or more of the following technical areas will provide assurance and confidence in the nations nuclear deterrent. On any given day, you may be called to:

+ assemble test units and test apparatuses.
+ support laboratory and field test execution.
+ develop functional electrical data acquisition strategies.
+ conceptualize and communicate major elements of electrical design, engineering, or maintenance.
+ apply your knowledge and experience with electrical design, installation, testing, repair, and maintenance.
+ collaborate with internal SNL partners including design, assembly, qualification, hardware management, and component/subassembly teams.


+ Bachelors degree in engineering or engineering technology or 8 years of equivalent experience.


+ Strong dedication to excellence in engineering and operational safety, security, and quality.
+ Knowledge and experience with electrical design, circuits, diagrams, installation, testing, repair, and maintenance.
+ Experience in laboratory and field electrical testing.
+ Experience in troubleshooting electrical circuits and setups
+ Experience in electrical lab equipment (oscilloscope, function generators, testers, etc.)
+ Experience with hazardous and classified materials and hardware.
+ Experience with sensors, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
+ Experience with National Instruments Test Stand and LabVIEW.
+ Experience with electrical fabrication, cable fabrication, printed circuit board layout and fabrication.
+ Motivated by strong collaboration and teaming across multiple disciplines and functional areas.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Experience in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting electronic systems and equipment.

Department Description:

The Technical Basis Team (both electrical functional and environmental) is responsible for the overall execution of system level normal and abnormal tests for the current and future modernization programs including the B61-12 and the W80-4 Weapon Modernization Programs. This high functioning and collaborative team works across support and functional areas of the laboratory to successfully plan, design, execute, and close-out highly complex and high consequence tests. Our team works with modeling and simulation, various test facilities, qualification engineers, quality engineers, hardware assembly personnel, safety engineering, environmental safety and health, emergency management, the federal program office, and production agency partners across the Nuclear Weapons Complex. The wide variety of normal and abnormal testing this team is responsible for includes functional, mechanical, thermal, material compatibility, electromagnetic radiation ground tests, and flight tests.
