We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced R&D S&E, Electrical Engineer to lead Center 5200s Hyper-Temporal Sensor (HTS) technical team as the Realization Lead for the project. HTS is a high-complexity, highly sophisticated microsystem sensor that supports a core Sandia mission. This position presents an opportunity to partner broadly across Sandias MESA complex and other Sandia divisions and centers and relies heavily on maturing advanced technologies both within and outside of Sandia. The 5200 HTS team is responsible for much of the technology development and product realization of flight sensors over the next several years. The project is transitioning from a research and development effort to a low-volume production-rigor phase with flight deliveries in the near term.

This position represents an opportunity for an experienced engineer to lead a diverse team and have significant impact on this high-visibility SNL program. As the project transitions to production, creativity, innovation, flexibility, and resourcefulness will be vital to work through the challenges associated with advancing a new technology for mission use. Experience on a product realization team (PRT) or as a PRT lead is highly desired. Knowledge of microsystems and/or sensor development would be an advantage.

Our ideal candidate is self-directed, customer focused, and able to deal with relatively high degrees of ambiguity, while exhibiting flexibility and the ability to keep a diverse team focused.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Work with the Technical and Production leads to coordinate technical directions.
+ Direct programmatic activities regarding progress tracking, quality, documentation, reporting, and so on.
+ Work with PRT Team Members to plan and execute development, production, and qualification activities.
+ Represent the project to the internal customer, the next-level-of-assembly component group, different levels of Sandia management, the NNSA, and others, as needed.
+ Mentor team members.

+ BS degree in STEM-related field, plus 5 years of relevant experience or MS degree in STEM-related field (Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, etc.) and at least one year of relevant experience; equivalent years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
+ Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q clearance.

Ideally, we would like to see your experience include some of the following:

+ Experience on a Sandia Product Realization Team
+ Experience as a PRT Lead
+ Experience with microsystems and/or sensors
+ Ability to re-think and adapt existing systems to work for a new technology
+ Problem-solving skills to develop creative solutions
+ Eagerness to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
+ The addition of diversity to the department through background, experience, interests, etc.
