We are seeking a highly motivated Director to lead our CA Site Operations Center (8500). You will take on accountability for leading a multi-level organization that supports the physical site and all day-to-day infrastructure operations (for both the CA site and for our division employees at other sites). As the director of a large organization, you will lead a management team overseeing 250+ employees. The areas of responsibility include: environmental management, occupational safety and health, facilities, security, emergency management, logistics, enterprise IT, machine shop, and related services. You will work closely with mission customers at both our California and New Mexico sites as well and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. In addition, you will serve as a member of the Division 8000 leadership team and will partner with the other divisiondirectors to ensure success to all programs for which the division is responsible.

**As the Director, you will be called on to:**

+ Develop and implement strategic and operational policies related to physical operations within the organizations
+ Ensure alignment of budgets, schedules, staffing, and performance expectations necessary to meet mission commitments and objectives
+ Lead, mentor and develop your management team and staff responsible for multiple functions
+ Advise and assist in the development of short-and-long range plans, establishing goals and objectives for programs
+ Successfully integrate activities with those of other organizations and influence senior leaders on matters of significance
+ Serve as the primary internal and external contact for CA Site Operations
+ Partner with internal and external customers to clearly define their needs
+ Direct continuing overall situational reporting to general management so that informed decisions can be made regarding the allocation of resources, the relative emphasis to be placed on various activities and the need for new or revised management directives


+ Advanced degree (Master's, PhD) in relevant discipline with 12 or more years of relevant work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ 8 or more years of managerial experience including leading and directing other managers
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance


+ Current or previous employment at a national laboratory or Federally Funded Research and Development Center
+ Senior leadership-level strategy development
+ Experience in the broader national security mission area
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to alter for varying audiences
+ Demonstrated ability working on projects and the ability to make quick, sound decisions about priorities
+ Demonstrated financial and business experience coupled with the ability to analyze metrics
+ Ability to lead business and organizational vision by communicating a compelling purpose, leading cross-organizationally, and inspiring and motivating people
+ Drive for continuous improvement in support of safety, security, quality, delivery, and cost initiatives
+ Experience delivering cost reduction and quality improvement initiatives while maintaining safe, secure operations
+ Validated ability to collaborate with business and technical functions with direct responsibility for the successful resolution of complex issues
+ Integrative thinker with proven ability to tackle complex, multi-faceted problems with due consideration for business and strategic consequences
+ PMP Certification
+ Lean Six Sigma certification
+ Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities, mediate conflict, and apply leadership concepts and techniques
+ Ability to foster a culture of inclusion and take an active leadership role in modeling and growing values in diversity, equality, and inclusion

Department Description:

The 8000 office is responsible for supporting the Vice President of the California Site in the role as the leader of Division 8000 activities and manager of the SNL/CA site. Major programs at the site encompass a vital role in nuclear weapons, broader national security with a focus on homeland security and energy, integrated systems and technologies work, and a strong research base and exemplary operations.
