We are seeking an exceptional Computing Infrastructure Engineer to join our Team. You will perform the full lifecycle management (analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, integration and maintenance) of multi-user information systems including servers, storage, virtual and cloud infrastructures, and associated components and subsystems. Maintain the integrity of servers and systems to meet established requirements for service levels, disaster recovery, business continuity, and security. Coordinates and interfaces with customers, suppliers, and domain experts such as networking, software, and desktop personnel.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Maintaining the operation of Microsoft systems that support the microfabrication area.
+ Providing high level troubleshooting of hardware and software problems.
+ Working with the database support group to ensure robust connectivity of data and application software packages.
+ Configuring new hardware systems that support all areas of microfabrication including packaging, testing, quality control, etc.
+ Working closely with programmers and vendor supplied software support to identify known problems and determine logical path to mitigate these problems.
+ Partnering closely with corporate and center computer security groups to ensure all corporate standards for security protection are met.
+ Responsibility for networking, security, systems administration, and monitoring the operation of desktop and personal computer equipment and associated software.
+ Performing hardware additions, changes, and upgrades.
+ Supporting, maintaining, and upgrading the Virtual Environment.
+ Providing customer support for hardware and software issues in the MESA Complex, including servers, equipment computers, and the in-house personal computers.
+ Making recommendations on hardware and software purchases and coordinating installation.
+ Training and supporting internal users.


You have experience in the following:

+ An Associates Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
+ Familiar with VMware vSphere.
+ Solid understanding of Windows Server-Based operating systems.
+ Experience in performing hard drive backups, PC configuration and networking in a Windows environment.
+ Experience in computer hardware and software support
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security Clearance.


Ideally, we would like to see your background include some of the following:

+ Bachelor's degree.
+ Knowledge of hardware and operating systems, including system architectures, network infrastructures, and clientserver principles.
+ Strong skills in server-side application management.
+ Excellent oral and written communications skills.
+ Experience working in a production environment
+ Microsoft certifications
+ Nutanix cluster management
+ VMware Horizon virtual desktop administration
+ Experience with desktop computers and common relevant software (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
+ Ability to collaborate across teams.
+ Active DOE Q Security Clearance.

Department Description:

Sandia National Laboratories Microsystems and Engineering Sciences Applications (MESA) complex provides unique processing capability in semiconductor microfabrication. The MESA Fab facility is subdivided into 2 areas: (1) 12,500 sq. ft., class 1 cleanroom silicon wafer fab that produces radiation hardened CMOS integrated circuit technology and micro-electromechanical (MEMs) devices, and (2) 16,600 sq. ft., class 10 cleanroom fabrication area that produces compound semiconductor circuits and devices and back-end of line metallization and packaging. Department 05234, Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) supports the programming, security and computing needs of the MESA complex.
